Hello

Just joined the forum.

Pretty much new to to this, have never had a telescope before which is one of the reasons for joining.  Am a avid SciFi fan and after a fantastic talk at our camera club I have developed an interest in Astrophotography, so far I have only managed a couple of shots of the moon (https://www.flickr.com/photos/144679876@N08/49517556136/in/album-72157713056129321/) but nothing more.  I photograph with a Nikon D500 and have a few lenses (my moon lens at the moment is the 200-500mm Nikon lens).

Apart from wanting to learn and develop this interest I would welcome guidance on a 'value for money' entry level setup that could get me ready for winter and the possibility of a) getting closer to the moon but b) being able to take some deep space shots.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul welcome to SGL, nice picture of the moon. Many people use DSLR's and the dedicated lenses for them very successfully, so you are already in a good position. You have come to the right place for some good advice.

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Lincolnite 👍

A smallish refractor of around 80mm, and a basic mount like the star adventure or eq35 / eq5 is the standard way most people go when starting out.

You already have a DSLR, plenty of folks on here willing to help out with advice.

Good luck on your journey, and clear skies.
