But concerned about the floor level as you step into the Obsy, in an earlier post it looked to be a lower level than the rest, are you sure you are not going to twist your ankle over the lip in the dark? But maybe it is no longer lower as can't see in subsequent pictures. Also stepping out of the observatory, will those beams be converted into a step or I can see another accident looming. Carole Hi Carole, I'm really pleased too with how it's looking. Learn so many different skills with this relocation. I probably can do boat repairs now, lol. Thanks for your concern. Yeah, still a little step inside, I'm leaving it for now and probably install some dim red led lighting around the step. I originally intended to put in a hinged flap that would fill the gap when observing but liked the look of the step, lol. If I find that it's a hazard I'll put in the flap. I'm decking the outside beams this week.
Nigella Bryant
On a side note my solar Observatory is now in use and first light today from the Phoenix Complex solar obsy. Edited July 29, 2020 by Nigella Bryant
carastro
That "concertina" type outside surface of the pier is dead good for strapping things to. My Pier is smooth and slippery, so I never tied anything to it.

Nigella Bryant
I've actually finished the repairs and relocation of my pulsar 2.7m dome. The Phoenix Complex is complete, yay. Now for equipment installation. Well it's complete until I muster up the energy to motorise it, lol. 8

sloz1664
Fantastic achievement Nigella. Love the final decking. Very professional. Now that I've nearly completed the shutter project, I'd better look at cleaning and polishing my Pulsar, as your dome is making mine look very old & very tired. Steve Hi Steve, thanks, yeah, my dome was a little bartered, lol but has come up really bright and shinning. I sanded it all down first and then painted. I'd appreciate your input on your shutter mod as I'm getting older I'd eventually like to motorize both shutter and dome rotation (probably next year). Can you pm me details, would really appreciate it. Nigella.

Nigella Bryant
Thanks Billy and Stu, appreciate your thoughts. It was a bigger job because I wanted to completely restore it to it's original condition but worth it.

I've been procrastinating about replacing the rollers on my Pulsar dome for months. I've got the new rollers, the anti-seize lubricant, the special pliers etc, but not convinced I have the competence to start. I fear I'll botch it and end up in a worse situation. I must look up "observatory repair specialist" in my local trade directory 🙂 Edited August 3, 2020 by JeremyS 2
