Episode IV: A New Scope

Recommended Posts

Over a month ago, I bought a 200p (thank you FLO)

Now I have a 300p flextube motorised dob.  (man its big)...

So, what happens next?  Have I missed Saturn?

Cheers,

Mark

No, not completely. It's never very high at the moment so depends on your local horizon and how early you can pick it up. Big 300 scope the universe is your oyster

I think Floater is referring to the curse of the clouds

I was thinking more like David Coleman on A Question Of Sport.

For our younger viewers, it was David Coleman B4 Sue Barker...

What happens next??

You may have reached the "Dob Horizon". Past a certain aperture an insatiable thirst for more inches will set in and a succession of larger and larger Dobs will follow until. One night you will fall into the gaping maw of you monster Dob never to be seen again.......

That how I would like to go.

Generally a big Dob leads to some serious eyepieces and some unforgettable views (star parties are a pretty good substitute for the majority of us who are not lucky enough to own one of these marvellous machines).

Enjoy the beast.

Got the two side by side.

The 200p looks like Nelson's telescope compared to the 300...  I haven't even extended it yet

Fair enough

Bear with me though.  I have never transferred pics from a camera to laptop AND posted them.  However, I do like a challenge!

Not my best pic, but it was a bit rushed.

There is a theory that rather than perish, you exit through the eyepiece as a string of photons, only to reappear from the objective of a microscope

Good luck with that. I hear they are quite a rowdy bunch.
