After randomly gazing at the skies and watching the odd meteor shower, I've started to take more of an interest in astronomy. I've bought Celestron UpClose 10x50 binoculars and a tripod, and look forward to getting started

Warm welcome to SGL. A couple of books you may be interested in 'turn left at orion' will help guide you round the sky and 'sky & telescope pocket star atlas'. Use in conjunction with a planetarium program, plenty out there, but try Stellarium its great & free, to be found here :-- http://www.stellarium.org/ .

Been lovely clear skies over the last week for some ISS spotting, but just as my tripod arrives, all I can see is grey cloud. I've downloaded Stellarium, but not had a chance to use it yet. Thanks for the tips.
