Sleep well Vicky, i hope you havnt got what I had, i slept almost for 3 days the other week, slept all night then about 6 hours during each day. Get well soon

Thanks Chris - I don't often feel ill, but this has knocked me sideways.

Got that bug/virus the other week after going to Kelling Heath, and I wonder if I'm still not 100% recovered from that.

Plus, it's been a busy and emotionally testing time with the loss of my nan and Terry's granddad.

To be honest, I wasn't really over the loss of my nan in April when I lost my other nan in October.

Terry was off work for 8 weeks, and I've had the pressure of keeping us going with very little income.

Think I'm just mentally and physically exhausted, but I'll be right - it's nearly Christmas! :)

Up again early today just after 5, and after waiting a little while for the few wispy clouds to clear I had another crack at Catalina.

It has moved a little since yesterday and finding it was quite difficult as I think there was quite a lot of cloud that couldn't be seen?

It now lies just above and to the left of the star Tau Virgo which is about a magnitude 6 star.

On my star chart it is roughly in tho same area as NGC5560/5569/5566/5577/5574 and 5576 which are a cluster of galaxies.

Before seeing catalina I was confused by what first looked like a bright orange star in Virgo? It wasn't Mars as this is above Spica? After a couple of seconds I noticed it was actually moving very slowly south East?

I had a look on heavens above and there was a couple of satellites in the area at the time but only Cosmos 2369 in the flight path? Didn't think it would be that bright though?

Also CZ4 r/b which could've been it but it passed near Mars and was way off?

Guess I'll never know?

All presents wrapped and cards written. I have spent a fortune this month, unfortunately Christmas happened to tie in with my first mortgage payment, a bumper council tax bill and my credit card payment from moving, that was all £1000 before adding anything else.

Still have in the back of my mind that my boiler is needing to be replaced, really hoping to get it through this winter and get a new one installed in early summer when I've got a bit of cash saved up and I'm not as reliant on it for heating.

Every time I look at getting the dob, something else seems to pop up.

Matt.

Think everyone is in the same situation at this time of year Matt.

My boiler is limping along (a couple of bad leaks) and after fixing it several times over the last 18 years it has now reached the point where it's uneconomical to buy the bits and repair it.

I see the wind has got up again! Really is a rubbish winter and you're not missing anything not having a scope Matt as I would say it's a waste of money given the weather we've had!

Gotta admit I'd be really disappointed if the scopes themselves weren't nice to look at lol

ISS pass at 4.44pm at 41 degrees - the sky looks like it is clearing nicely for it :)

You might even get to see 2 ISS hehe, hows the eye now? did they give you anything for it? Should be a clear skie up until around 9/10pm, something like that anyway, then its business as usual with clouds

The eye is not great - I have a corneal abrasion, as I appear to have tried to gouge my own eye out in the night!

Still struggling with blurred and slightly double vision, with everything having a feinter version of itself just above - very weird.

Fortunately, it is my right eye and not my left eye, as I use my left eye for looking through the EP.

I have 2 lots of drops to combat infection and keep the eye lubricated, and have an urgent appt with the Ophthalmologist at Dewsbury Hospital at 8.30am tomorrow morning.

The optician thinks it will heal over the next couple of days, however the double vision is worrying him - he believes it is caused by the abrasion being right across the middle of my cornea, and there is also a slight "puckering" (hence causing the image to refract probably), however he would like a second opinion from the eye specialist. All good fun - not - I'll keep you all posted with how I get on in the morning.

Fabulous ISS pass again this evening. Managed to Pritt-stick a couple of my 8 second exposures together. Tried 15 seconds, but the sky was still too light.

Don't think I've done the "sticking" quite right as it seemed a bit of a long way round to do, but it's not a bad first attempt  :)

Just setting up now for hour or so before clouds come in !!, altitude slew (clutch) making a bit of a grinding noise, have to keep my eye on that.

Considering you are having eye problems Vicky, its a good effort all the same on this evenings ISS pass.
