Which astronomer are you?

So Sky at Night magazine is running a fun article this month with a double page spread question flow which leads you to a definitive (!) categorisation for which type of astronomer you are.

figured it'd be fun to collate the results here; i'll kick off.

I'm a Deep Sky Devotee

I am deeply interested in everything. I observe deep sky (galaxies, open clusters, globulars, planetaries, diffuse nebulae, quasars, supernovae, did some variable star observing), planets, asteroids, the sun (white light and H-alpha), do a bit of lunar from time to time, and image planets, the moon and the sun, and am now moving (back) into DSO stuff as well. Is there a category for that?

There wasn’t a “frustrated by cloud astronomer” which is where I’d put myself most of the time.

There also wasn't a frustrated but tries his hand at everything category... so using the flow chart, I end up at either DSLR snapper or Imager

Haven't looked at it but I can safely say that's what I would expect to be too!

I mainly look through the eyepiece..but have been known to use the mk1 eyeball

I want to see everything (with my eye) but in a way that's relaxed and enjoyable. not seen the article so not sure what that makes me.

Looks like I'm the straight-up stargazer, and definitely the armchair astronomer

when it's cloudy.
