Hello everyone.

I'm a complete beginner to all this. I've decided to buy some used Bins and try and find my way around the stars to get a feel for the hobby before i decide to take the plunge and get a Scope. The amount of information out there on the net and in books is unreal, i've spent the last few weeks reading everything and trying to get a rough idea. Mind blowing! Great site by the way.

Hi Mike and welcome to the forum. Take your time and use the forum to help narrow down the research. To that end, one of the biggest elements to any purchase is of course the budget and it might help us to help you if you could get us some idea of how much you would like to spend. A part from the joy of spending somebody else's money, it will helps us to work out what would provide you with best value for money or view for your bucks. In terms of type of scope, the dobsonian reigns supreme because most of the money goes into the mirror rather than an additional flimsy mount and motors etc.
