Hello Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago, I left my curtains open so that the morning light would assist me with waking up. Ended up looking at the stars from my bed with a pair of cheap 10x25 binoculars, and have gradually become more interested since then! Borrowed my dad's binoculars, and saw Jupiter's moons for the first time a couple of nights ago, and for my birthday I will be getting a reasonably decent pair.

I'm a pianist by day, studying music at the uni a couple of minutes walk from my house, which is on the edge of the city - I imagine it will be very easy to escape light pollution with not too long a drive.

Hi Andrew - you're certainly in a good part of the world for dark skies!

My sister's down in Dunedin and when we visited last year and drove across to Glenorchy I saw the best skies I've seen in about 30 years of stargazing.
