Hi everyone!

Hope to learn some useful information from all you budding astronomers out there. Had my 8 "skywatcher dobsonian for about a month now and been trying to find some deep sky objects but with no luck. Its clear tonight so out again and hopefully Jupiter will be in view before midnight. :)

Hi Pete, welcome to SGL. The globular clusters such as M13 and M15 are the best to go looking for at first and of course M31 for the easiest to find galaxy. They'll give you a good idea of the sorts of things you will see in the eye piece. M31 is quite simple to find due to it's size and it's a bit of a thrill to see anoother galaxy for the fiirst time - especially when you consider that it's taken 2 million years for the light to reach your telescope.:)
