I was hoping to buy an Ironing Chair from Lidl, but our nearest store didn't stock them (I'm in South East)

Are there any others which members can recommendend for a dob??

It's more of an effort but if you want a bargain try charity shops or a car boot. I've ended up with 2 ironing stools, one from a charity shop and then I spotted my neighbour was throwing one away !

My back starts to slightly ache after a few hours observing, hence the need for a chair/stool.

I luckily picked one up from a carboot for 99p. Keep your eyes open one will turn up cheaply if you hunt.

At 6ft 8in I share your discomfort at stooping.

Backs are funny things. I can lift and carry (with a straight back) without much effort but leaning down into a shopping trolly to put stuff onto the checkout is a real back killer.

I guess I'm lucky at only 5'8" but I must say that lifting a 10" dob can be quite precarious, and when observing there are certain positions that I feel you need to have attended 'limbo' lessons in order to achieve - especially when looking through a finderscope or Telrad.

I find the stooping a bit of a pain and I'm only 5'10".

I use a drummers throne with both my Dobs.

Nice n comfy and loads of height adjustment.

I got mine from Amazon as well Metaltex Komet Ironing Stool: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home On the lowest setting it's just right for my 250PX but a lot cheaper at Lidl. If you wait you may find your store will have them in as they have different promotions from one week to the next.

We had this hanging around, a few questions asked & it's home with me.

Gas for up / down, swivel as well (which I really find useful) & soft .....

I welded one up but made it a bit unweildy! Not only does sitting spare your back, though. It greatly enhances what you can see. Remarkable but true.
