  1. They are exactly the same as Altair cameras, these and Altair are just re brands of Touptek / Risingcam, and there are a few other re brands too....whereas QHY and ZWO produce there own cameras....so judge for yourself...👍🏼
  2. Yes, I think ZWO and QHY produce there own cameras, but Altair are rebranded Touptek / Rising Cam cameras..
  3. Very nice indeed, especially for just 3 hours of data....👍🏼
  4. Thanks for the reply.... Yes I am now using it via a smart plug, and seems to work well, but am noticing a bit of water in the bottom of the unit under the container, I empty each day when there is about an inch of water, and when I remove there is a bit in the bottom, and it’s not coming from the water outlet spout....so am wondering if I have an issue.... Stuart
  5. 😮😮 that is a real shame, I feel for you...as owning two Taks myself....but glad you have it covered and will be sorted...good on FLO...👍🏼
  6. Rip off price.....and yet you buy Tak gear for hundreds of pounds and won’t spend £30 to make it match....now you have painted it with cheap paint that will more than likely flake off in the cold and damp, and completely de valued a superb bit of kit, and on top of that the colour is still way off........🤔🤔
  7. Why didn’t you just buy the proper Tak paint from an Astro dealer here in the U.K., I have a pot of both the green and the blue, and trust me they are a perfect match, and come from the Tak factory...not cheap but well worth it... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/takahashi-other-accessories/takahashi-focuser-touch-up-paint.html
  8. Hi, looking at buying one of these, so am I correct in assuming. that I could run this from a timer plug, as it will co tinge from where it left off each time it comes on, unlike some of the digital button types...? cheers Stuart
  9. Cheers, have changed it to youtube
  10. Yes, was wanting to have an animated rocket coming out when open, but my skills are limited here on my iPad....👍🏼
  11. Well, a short video just to show the full open and close, with some music for fun...hope you like 👍🏼 edit, Dropbox link down, am trying to sort...👍🏼
  12. They are still in business, and very busy, I spoke to them a few weeks ago and had jobs in Europe booked in...I just wanted a small 5x5 obsy, and there quote was £2.7k....😮, so I built one from a new 5x5 shed I found for £450 all incl.....👍🏼
  13. Yes I hear the ticking too.... sounds ok other than that, if it’s comimg from the mount and not a clicking mouse....😀
  14. Try it and see, it may well work..👍🏼
  15. ZWO all the way, don’t bother with AA cameras...there is no comparison....👍🏼👍🏼
  16. So you have it all installed....and do you see both the Wlan1 and Wlan0 and all the available networks under each of the two connections.... If so, then you should be able to connect Wlan1 which is your new dongle, to the network of your choice from the list of available, this is how I have mine set up, I also keep the internal disconnected...
  17. This is why I never upgrade until I am at least two versions behind, it gives time to iron out the bugs....👍🏼
  18. All correct....👍🏼 you PC indoors would run Kstars, and the little RPI on the mount with all your kit attached to it, you then connect wirelessly, OR the way I run it, is to run all the software, Kstars and INdI, on the RPI, attached on the mount, and just wirelessly VNC into it from another PC, this is faster as it’s all being done on one little RPI... Ascom just forever gave me issues with drivers, serial port conflicts, and I loathe windows too, so that does not help. My PC indoors runs Linux Kubuntu...and I VNC into my RPI from that...
  19. With all due respect, I am not sure you quite understand the logic behind it all, I hope someone with better communicating skills than me will come along and explain better, as I don’t think I am explaining it properly, but the thousands of us that use it would never go back to a windows based Ascom system.... The actual Kstars software does run in all platforms, but I run it all from the PI itself, but many do use Kstars on there windows or MAC PC and then the PI with just an INdI server on the mount itself with all kit connected to it, in this set up it basically means that Ascom is replaced with INdI drivers which are altogether better IMHO, but that’s not really the best way to use, and to run it all off the PI is better as it’s completely wireless.. Also you need to understand that Kstars first and foremost is a planetarium education package used in education designed for that so it needs to run on all platforms, the Ekos side of it is an add on for full automated telescope control and image capture, that came later....education will always be first, see here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KStars
  20. The point of Kstars is it’s a Linux based program, and yes there is a windows version, but the idea is to use that with a Linux based mini single board computer on the mount running INdI, this is much cheaper, easier and smaller and completely wire free, than having a full blown windows PC at the mount...it just works, and far better then windows ever did, for me, and many others anyway..👍🏼
  21. No there not, the whole point was to steer clear of the awful Ascom software, and besides there is a perfect INdI EQMOD driver that I and many others use, it has all the features of the windows EQMOD driver and my EQ8 loves it...👍🏼
