@malc-cWhat's needed is an application that has EQMOD built in, PHD2 built in, an imaging section like APT / BYEOS / MAXIM / PIXINSIGHT, and a planetarium option built in rather then having them as linked standalone applications. Or have them as services that run in the background, but configurable through the one application. There is one, buts it’s Linux based and called Kstars…uses indi drivers and Ekos is the imaging and control, section section…..👍🏼

Which Pegasus powerbox?
Stuart1971 replied to StuartT's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
You won’t need instructions, it’s all pretty self explanatory in the software, there is one 12v port that can be voltage adjustable, just be careful not to forget what you have it set on and plug into the wrong device….it has been done…😮👍🏼 -
Yes, I think SGP need to up there game to compete with the FREE NINA software…👍🏼

The short answer is no, APT does not have native support for most CCD cameras, just Ascom support so that driver is needed… But you could use it in Stellarmate or Astroberry On and RPI with Kstars and INdI….🤔🤔

Concrete Pier - cheap but not portable
Stuart1971 replied to MarkRadice's topic in DIY Observatories
So, this may be a stupid question, but how it the new pier block of concrete, fixed to the original block in the ground, as it seems you just stood it on top, which will mean it’s not solid at all…and could quite easily be pushed over…..🤔🤔 -

I have to say Steve you have, in the end, taken this all very well, and looked at it all very positively, not sure I would have seen the bright side so soon, and the rest of my kit would have been up for sale by now….so kudos for that…and maybe some of us have learned a thing or two… I personally have made my own, albeit much less costly blunders, and have been grumpy for weeks….👍🏼 I hope you get it all sorted for the bare minimal cost…And I wish I could help, as you have helped me in the past…👍🏼

This is really sad, and I feel for you…but I have a question You say you bought a powered hub, but connected the hub to one of the 12v powers ports on the Pegasus, so I get that you have damaged all items connected to the new USB hub, (should have been 5v supply) BUT that should not have affected the Pegasus as that would have the correct separate 12v power supply to it, so why is that damaged…?? It should only be the items connected to the new USB hub…🤔🤔

Dark Frame Optics / AZEQ6 GT
Stuart1971 replied to Astro Grandad's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I personally think it is wrong that a supplier can complain about bad reviews, as long as they are all perfectly genuine, and then they get there own way and are removed, how are other people supposed to find out about suppliers, if they can’t read it on here, word of mouth is the best way to know whether or not to use a certain supplier or not…. All that will now happen is anybody looking will ask the question as on this thread, and all the bad and good reviews will appear again….it will be an ongoing circle…. Surely the supplier should not get his own way here…?? It will come to the point that we will only ever see good reviews on here, for any supplier which will not be a true reflection…. I understand that the Mods and Admin give there time on a voluntary basis and I am very grateful for that….👍🏼👍🏼 -
Question from a first time obsy newbie
Stuart1971 replied to Andywilliams's topic in DIY Observatories
That may work, but really think you need the tube in the concrete at least about 6” to make it solid…don’t think the rebar would be enough to stop any movement in the tube, or maybe a square steel plate, say 10” square, with four holes drilled, welded to the bottom of the tube, and then bolt that down to concrete base…that would work, also that way you lose no height…? 👍🏼 -

I dont get what you mean when you say “slot this into a concrete base” when you say you are going to bolt down, also where will the bolts go through on the steel tube….??
