  1. They're nearly 9lbs. Thanks Dave.
  2. Thanks Dave I'm planning on standing. I've also seen some Celestron models, which seem good. But any other opinions, thoughts and experience of a cost-effective tripod that is over 170", and able to carry a heavy payload much appreciated.
  3. Hi, Can anyone recommend a budget tripod? It’s to mount a used pair of 25x100 binoculars. I’m not looking for a ball-head type (or parallelogram - not prepared to build or buy one either. But know these are the best!). I’ve looked at Manfrotto, Horizon, Orion and others such as Victiv and K&F. Just looking for a solid and sturdy tripod that won’t break the bank. Cheers

    Hello from Surrey

Hello, I’ve decided to get back into astronomy after several years in the wilderness. I used to own a 12” Dob with goto, in addition to a 6” reflector. Unfortunately I sold most my kit when I moved house. For quick views I still use my 10x50 bins, and I’m thinking of buying a bigger pair. As we’ve been in lockdown and winter is drawing near, the call of stars; planetary and lunar obs beckons... Cheers Ray
