  1. Great craftsmanship !! How much will the final scope weigh in total ???
  2. For quick modelling I tend to use TinkerCad (https://www.tinkercad.com/), the basic system is free & will do at least 90% of what I want. If you want something more complicated, there's Onshape (https://www.onshape.com/) which is very good, but is a tad daunting at first....
  3. Beware, if you start getting into it, it has a habit of taking over a large part of your life, especially if the skies are overcast.....
  4. ummm, if you install the IndiLib package with Kstars etc. (https://indilib.org/), its only 32bit.....
  5. Have you set the number of re-tries in the profile manager ? i.e.
  6. A search on Ubuntu throws a few possibilities https://ubuntu.com/search?q=macbook
  7. I find they last 2~3years at least, and the most difficult part of changing them is cleaning off the adhesive, but I find IPA does a good job....
  8. If you have any spare, also try a micro sd card with a bootable image (get an Ubuntu minimal, if it works, all you'll have is a terminal window) then you can add in the desktop using tasksel ...
  9. For the 'Blind' failover, I use a local ANSVR server with all the catalogue files (I have enough disc space) & my settings are these:
  10. Can you install Virtual Machines??, if so you could probably run it in that.... Also try Balena Etcher on the PC, I use it all the time to write eMMc's \ micro SD's etc. and it does an automatic verify... Is this any help ? https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/how-install-linux-on-mac-3637265/
  11. It will only failover if you've correctly configured it in Control Panel, also check that the local blind server is running, what are you using for the main Plate Solve ? But I'd be more concerned that the scope didn't know where it was pointing after a flip, as it should have put the target somewhere in the frame.
  12. I've put a pair of these on the outside of the house (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-RGB-Floodlight-with-Remote-Dimmable-Outdoor-Garden-IP65-Party-Lighting-Lamps/163740612572) They are remote controllable (wireless), I've set mine to low level red....
  13. It's not easy to measure directly, 1st step though would be to measure the resistance of each coil (usually very low, couple of ohms) & if any open circuit, that would indicate an issue.... and measure from both the motor connector and the control box end....
  14. No, they don't have High\Low coils.... These stepper motors have 2 identical coils and depending on how you drive them they either go forwards or backwards, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stepper_motor
  15. I'm sure the manufacturer would appreciate it if you applied in Monthly 🤣
  16. depends on how deft you are at making up \ breaking out the leads. as my first thought for the DEC motor is that one of the coils isn't being driven (these are stepper motors), hence working @ higher speeds but not the lowest....
  17. Yikes, with the pound approaching euro parity, go for it now.....
  18. Just to confirm, you've connected the power to the driver box, & the DIN cables to the motors (they are 8 pin Din cables, 4 for each motor) and the handset to the driver box ?
  19. For the cost, its worth a shot, but as I said, I don't bother with a glass sheet, as that's just something else to lessen the heat for the bed, gets broken etc. especially if your bed is a flat milled ally sheet, else the glass plate may be needed to ensure a flat surface.
  20. My EQ5, I've modded myself, as originally it was only manual, but if your mount is the same as the EQ3 (which I have) and uses a separate driver box, It sounds like you haven't connected the motor drive cables, i.e. the DIN cable that goes from the driver box to the motors, so I'd start by making sure everything is connected & that there are no shorts etc.
  21. Time to throw the plate, there's a good chance it mat crack-up leaving very sharp shards lying around.... PEI sheets are getting cheaper, e.g. a 'named brand' https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aleph-Objects-Inc-KT-HB0000-LulzBot/dp/B018G59B82/ref=sr_1_4?crid=17WDDKYA0HWG4&keywords=pei+sheet+300x300&qid=1566116061&refinements=p_72%3A419153031&rnid=419152031&s=gateway&sprefix=pei+%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-4 or a cheaper 'no-name brand' https://www.amazon.co.uk/SOOWAY-Printer-Adhesive-Compatible-Creality/dp/B07R6RBB5B/ref=sr_1_1?crid=17WDDKYA0HWG4&keywords=pei+sheet+300x300&qid=1566116061&refinements=p_72%3A419153031&rnid=419152031&s=gateway&sprefix=pei+%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-1 If you go for a PEI sheet just make sure you get a self adhesive one, and I just stick mine to the bed sheet (after misting with water, to ensure no bubbles)....
