  1. They certainly nailed the colour palette, scientifically relevant and as you say excellent eye candy. Alan
  2. Brilliant images but the coolest thing for me has to be the binary stars in the center of the ring nebula, now my desktop image 😀 Alan
  3. I do like my metal inserts especially if the thread has to be used multiple times like in a camera adapter etc. I have on occasions printed my own plastic inserts with 100% fill that can be push fit or screwed/bonded using superglue into the main part which might only have an infill of 40%. I have used this type of insert on quite a few projects. Thing to make sure of though is that any force applied is in the direction away from the head end so that the insert is being pulled into the part not out of it. Alan
  4. The only other thing with these types of scopes is that the focal length can change depending on the position of the mirror, are you using a diagonal with this set up? Alan
  5. The Innorel tripods are similar/same as the Artcise versions and very good for the money, I have one of there ball heads and its far better than any Manfrotto offering. There is a member review of a smaller Artcise 80 version here.... Alan
  6. The focus looks a bit off to me.. Alan
  7. Very nice, I do like the small Maks.. Alan
  8. Am a big fan of Minisforum, recently bought one of there premium models to to use as my main PC and its super fast. Alan
  9. I also had to play with the Z axis by adding shims to the motor assembly and also moved to dual axis motors with anti backlash couplings on both lead screws, smooth as butter now and it also ensures that the auto bed leveling is consistent with no sagging on the x gantry. Have also added lighting using those small USB stick lights and some 28v to 5V usb convertor boards in printed cases.. Alan
  10. Welcome to the club, I too have an Ender 3V2 and like most others have suffered from "elephants foot" from time to time but it can be cured by adjusting bed/print temperature and also in the Cura slicer that I use by adjusting dimensions of the first couple of layers. I would recommend that you find a PLA manufacturer that works well and stick to it, some PLA I have is so difficult to "tune in" with a couple of degrees difference in temp making big changes. I fitted the CR probe to mine and it makes a big difference, the printer is almost plug and play now. I will add that anyone that thinks "benchys" calibration cubes or any other models are not relevant to Astro then they don't understand the process of tuning a printer and quantifying a materials properties so that you get successful engineering prints. Alan
  11. My Son was visiting recently and he noticed that the 5G in my vicinity was running at almost 800Mb/S 😀 Alan
  12. I use this function all the time with a std intervalometer, the few seconds delay due to the self timer allows for the mirror slap to dissipate anyway so no bad thing plus you can always add this delay onto your chosen exposure timings. Alan
  13. Cant help with the amp glow but you can enable the mirror lock in menu and use it in combination with the self timer function, this locks the mirror up and starts the required sub length after a few seconds with a single trigger pulse (assuming you are using the remote shutter port). Alan
  14. Worth looking through some of the "star adventurer" threads, the EQ5 single axis motor has no external ports though so it would need to be a DIY job but have seen examples on this site. Alan
  15. You can guide with a single axis motor (lots of people do it with the SA) but it limits you although it should help with periodic error which is the biggest downside of the EQ3-5 mounts when using anything more than 300mm f/l. Alan
  16. Thats similar to my goto recipe except I use 99.99% IPA at 50-50 with distilled water and a single drop of the mild green stuff. Works for my glasses lenses and 3d printer bed. Alan
  17. I got me a virtual card sent to my phone 😀 am well pleased with it. Alan
  18. Evolution is a funny thing - carbon based life creates man - man creates silicon based life - silicon based life rules the universe. I am also not sure we know what life is and how to identify it and if intelligence is real or just another set of complex instructions being processed. Alan
  19. Thanks both, of course this begs the question of how many molecules do you need for H2O to become water as we know it? and the minimum number of molecules needed before it can freeze.. Alan
  20. Just watched it and very enjoyable it was too. Alan
  21. Have often wondered too regarding the minimum amount of water required to sustain life and also if single molecules of water can actually freeze... Alan
