  1. I would go for a pair of binoculars, scanning the horizon with a reflector for ships would drive me nuts as would a frac with a mirror diagonal. 😀 Alan
  2. I am still new to this printing lark but have gone through several reels of filament now and am beginning to get the hang of it. My favorite materials so far are Carbon Fibre PLA and Wood PLA although they were tricky to use at the start. the wood PLA is fun for character models and some audio bits such as my Grado mods shown below.. Alan
  3. Would agree, watched a vid the other day that suggested that it was time itself that gave rise to gravity in space -time. Alan
  4. Some mobile phones are getting close to this... Alan
  5. What if there was only ever a single photon created and its everywhere and every time at once 🙂 Alan
  6. Maybe there is another way to time travel, I often re visit the past in my dreams but there are errors, now if we could link lots (think billions) of minds together to fill in the missing gaps then.... Alan
  7. I suppose time travel is dependent on how much we know about Maths/Physics etc, if we think we already know 50% of everything that is knowable then time travel is impossible, if however as I believe our knowledge is less than 0.0000000000000000000000000001 % as I suspect then anything is possible. Alan
  8. I wonder if "time viewing" might be easier, we can already look back at events in the Cosmos that happened millions of years ago or record something on your phone to watch later. In both cases we cant go back beyond the point where the observer or detector were introduced...yet. Alan
  9. Everyone immediately knows how big a "gnats" is or a fag paper, think the brain is wired for visible objects rather than arbitrary measurements. Alan
  10. I personally am far more comfortable when something is described in "London bus" lengths or even body parts, still use my thumb joint to approximate an inch and of course feet which give a good idea of length too. Alan
  11. I think the 12V is probably correct but you could easily loose 0.4 V or more in cable resistance, never understood why most commercial PSU units dont have an optional 4 wire option to remote sense the voltage at the actual mount connection. Alan
  12. I have the C90 and a Z71 and would say that the Mak produces better Lunar images, the Mak also has the benefit of a far more sturdy camera mount. I still haven't worked out if its best to attach the camera direct or use a 2 inch extension which compensates for the removal of the visual diagonal but it focuses fine both ways although the f/l changes a little. My first ever image with the Mak, single shot with DSLR. Alan
  13. Add me, dont hate them but I wonder how many users out there have not swapped out the focusser or other bits.. Alan
  14. I would agree with Nik271 above, look at the Samyang 135 thread and you will see that lots of structures are very large indeed.. Alan
  15. I have one of these... Nice microscope too 😀 Alan
  16. My smallest scope it this.. X I and X2 magnification so a f/1 device, gives good views considering and gives correct orientation views too, cant bear all the upside down or left to right stuff 😀 Alan
  17. I am a completer novice but have noticed that PLA filament does vary between manufacturers and different colours from the same one, for instance the white PLA I am using produces parts that are ok and strong but lack the surface detail of the matt black one for example. The finished parts also seem to have differing properties, the white is slightly more flexible but strong with the matt black being far more brittle although much stiffer. Holding a piece of each of the filaments and giving them a "twang" test shows this difference quite markedly.. Alan
  18. Its an Ender 3 pro..although its already had a few tweaks 😀 well a lot realy. Alan
  19. Problem is that magnetic beds can only realy go up to 60 degrees before you degrade the magnetism.. Alan
  20. Thanks, was thinking along similar lines, it would also be easy to create a PCB drilling template and stencils for other stuff too.. Alan P.S. Just had a thought, I have a couple of lasers in the 80-200mW range, I am sure they could burn through the right sort of etch resist 🙂 Or better still a UV low power laser with a UV sensitized board.
  21. I agree its lovely stuff, was wondering though about PLA plus or the carbon fiber loaded PLA and from my limited use it seems not all PLA reels are created equal.. Alan
  22. Regarding Astro project or indeed any semi mechanical part whats the best filament to use? bear in mind I am using a magnetic bed so stuck with PLA.. Alan
  23. I do have several models of "Groot" I want to print as well as some Fallout 4 figures and items like the "lamps" from the game so its not all sensible.. My son rang me earlier and was talking about a "Dremil" powered table saw he made so thats opened up another bottomless pit of things I want.. Alan P.S. Maybe I could also use the printer to print out drilling templates for my ally project boxes or even the PCB itself mmmm. Of course once you add skateboard bearings into the mix the list of things grows even more..
  24. I have only had my printer a few days but the things I want to print grows daily, as for upcoming astro projects these will be a screw on solar filter holder with a 77mm thread to fit my camera lenses, a screw in bat mat mask for the same lenses, wifi or maybe bluetooth controlled DSLR mount (for general photography), Tracking mount for my mobile phone.... Non astro Items include upgraded parts for my Grado headphones, case for my Fiio BTR5 plus various other thingies, however I am still in the printing printer upgrade parts mode. Alan
  25. Very interesting, reminded me of a video about sharpness for surgeons cutting tools, stone age technology won out... Alan
