8 - the Pentax XWs (70 degree AFOV)!

Got the two grenades (30 and 40 mm) last, but find myself using them the most. Awesome for scanning the sky. The XW eye relief is also good for a glass wearer like myself.

I most recently bought the Pentax XW 30. Makes scanning the sky so much easier. Might not have needed the finderscope afterall. Will likely get the 40 mm eventually, but I need to build up the astronomy savings account again.

After a quick stock take. Surprisingly I only have 55.
Main ones are:

TV Ethos, 6

TV Nagler, 11

TV Apollo 11, 1

Tak LE, 11 (3 are duplicates)

Vixen HRs and other HP EPs, 10

Pentax XL, 6

A few one offs: Pentax XP 3.8, XW 40, TV NZ, TV Pan 35, APM SZ, Tak Erfle 28

Let's see

6 , 9 , 15 , 20 , 2" 26 , 32 , 40 , Zoom 7-21 , 10&25 Plossl that came with the scope (I should probably sell the 10)

10 in total, all of them budget EPs with 68-70 AFOV. Which is more than enough.

The 40 , 26 and 15 get used 90% of the time.

I have no idea why people obsess so much about eyepieces. I'd rather invest 1000$ into an upgrade from my 8" to a 12" than buy 2 premium brand eyepieces.

How do you build up an account? I started an astro savings account, but I keep spending it before gets into 3 figures!

It is odd. The eyepiece is quite low down Richard Suiters "wobbly stack" of factors that impact the quality of the view we get and yet the eyepiece section of forums is often one of the busiest 🙄

41 for me I think, although I may have missed some! Includes 5 Bino pairs. Not counting a few of the bundled skywatcher 25 and 10mm plossls

Full set of BGOs

3.5, 5, 7 and 10mm XWs

12.5 and 17.5mm Morpheus

17, 22 and 31mm Naglers

2 to 4, 3 to 6 nag Zooms plus Leica Zoom

12.5mm Docter

24mm Panoptic

3.4mm Vixen HR

TAL 6.3, 12.5 and 25mm Plossls

18, 12.5, 7 and 6mm  Circle V 0.965” Orthos

40mm Circle V Kellner

Pairs

40mm Celestron Omni

32mm TV Plossl

25mm Zeiss Ortho

20mm Vixen LW

10mm BCO

6mm BCO

Quite an eclectic mix! 24mm Pan, 25mm Orthos and zooms probably get most use, followed by the XWs and Nags when I do a longer session!

Here's my little collection of Clave' of Paris eyepieces, it doesn't show my new 5mm Clave so that is 12 eypieces in total.

That I use... two.  I'm using a long FL scope at the moment. I'd bring out a third for more magnification if using a shorter FL scope.

So, not many - but they are good ones. I find too many EPs to be a distraction from what matters, which is really looking.
