Not the most thrilling delivery in the world but hopefully very useful: a variable polarising filter for lunar / planetary work.

If your using it with a Barlow and eyepiece you can usually stick one half on the Barlow and the other on the eyepiece.  You can then rotate the eyepiece to adjust the dimming.

Not going to claim credit for that tip, @Mr Spock enlightened me

Thanks, R, but I did know that ... It's why I bought the two-part one. 😉

If you have a diagonal with filter threading, you can do the same.

Only ordered on Friday from FLO and arrived today, 'Drop Shipped' direct from OVL (Optical Vison Limited), a pair of Helios Stellar II 16 x 80 Binoculars. I thought that they might be useful in particular for the upcoming comet apparitions of Pons-Brook and Tsuchinsham-Atlas, and a step up from my current Celestron Skymaster 16 x 70's.

I was amazed however how much bigger and heavier they were than the 15 x 70's (good job I didn't go for the 20 x 100's which I briefly considered), but at least they do come with a sturdy tripod mounting rail.

I bought one years ago and I’ve never used it. I can enjoy viewing the full moon without any filter whatsoever. Probably due to mainly using high magnification I reckon. I will have to dig it out and try it on the moon at low magnification.

Getting to grips with guiding was not helped by my RVO guide scope. Admittedly it was getting on in years like its owner but after tightening the locking ring it would magically loosen itself just by lying there. After hours of pleasant research I decided on this William Optics offering. Can't test the optics yet but the engineering quality is superb and it's a colour match for my ZS61II.

That looks very classy I must say. Is it light enough to pick up the whole lot to take outside?  I like the right angle finder. I bet that helps avoid neck ache.

Absolutely light enough but also very sturdy . The fluid head has just the right tension and smoothness. Just need some clear skies now :)

Bought to use on doubles with the 80mm F15 Vixen (x 200) and the FS128 (x173 or x295 with 1.7x Glasspath Corrector and Baader Zeiss prism.

Dave

Looks similar to, if not identical to the Fullerscopes branded Ortho's.

Two mounts delivered back to me this week from the Rowan chaps. My AZ100 has been upgraded with the Goto kit, and I have a an AZ75 to open on Christmas Day as a very generous pressie from Mum and Dad 🙏😊.

I’m looking forward to getting the FS-128 onto it for a decent session sometime soon, and also to do some side by sides with the LT80AZ and ST80 to see how they compare.
