Definitely agree.  Learn to collimate, learn to nudge. Basic Dob can’t be beat for value and great views.....

I agree. an 8" Newt is a fantastic all rounder. Are you fine for storage etc. Just a another thing to consider

You never specified where you would be observing from and if transporting the telescope would be an issue.  For example, I put together a 127 Mak on an alt-az mount for my daughter and her fiancé to take along on camping trips in her CUV.  There wouldn't be room in the back for an 8" Dob with all of their camping gear.  I also thinking of sending along my AT72ED if the 127 Mak's narrow field of view becomes an issue for them.

Own only the Evostar 90, watched through 8'' Dob, can say for Evo that for beginner scope it's amazing. Easy to use, lightweight and cheap.

This is a non issue and the difference in views using the 6" dob or better yet 8" dob will be well worth it. Collimation is very easy and fast in these scopes.

I am surprised that you didn't include a Mak in your original list, easy to mount, forgiving when used with cheaper eyepieces and even the 90/102 Maks can put a big smile on your face...

A newtonian on an alt-azimuth mount is basically what a dobsonian is. Buying a newtonian tube and an altazimuth mount separately will cost more than a complete dobsonian of the same aperture.

I'm not sure we (or you) are getting far with this thread to be honest with you

If you really do not want a dobsonian then best to say so and take them off the list.

A 150mm newt on a Skytee II would work well and with the slo-mo controls easier to track with. Bit more than a dob but still not too expensive.
