Only just seen this thread and am very sorry you have to repair the damage to your dome caused by low life. What I would like to do to them is not printable. 😖

They need to be made to fear the consequences, which they don't.

I tried an online quote from the specialist insurers Glover and Howe, but they wanted over £200 pa, which seems excessive, since my main house's £75,000 contents cover is £75. (I live in a very low risk postcode area, but apparently that isn't taken into account by G & H).

Bit late to this thread but this surprised me. I have G&H insuring my whole rig left under a Telegizmos 365 cover - not for weather but for eveything else - in a pretty open garden in a quite low risk area. £9 a month, which I'd view as pretty reasonable...

Wow, that is good.

So sorry to hear about this. It must be all our nightmare to think about our property  being invaded. My thoughts are with you. I am sure that repairs will be made. Wish you well.

Thanks, appreciate it, least I'd taken all my equipment away to my new address. Just looking forward now to rebuild it at my new home. Least I've gone from bortal 8 to bortal 3 skies, lol.

Hi! To be honest home insurance can be costly, but in some cases it is better to pay for insurance and it might save you a fortune in the future. When my sister and her husband bought their own home for the first time, they also were confused either they should get their house insured or not and where to get the best rates for the home insurance and not to overpay. They’ve checked lots of different companies, but the good thing they accidentally found this web site called Money Expert, that helps to choose the best rate for the home insurance. They have chosen the most suitable insurance company for them. We realised that the website is not attached to any other company and acts completely impartially, because my parents tried it and it recommended in a few minutes a different insurance company with suitable rates in their area.

My doctor warned me off to stay of the bortal at my age. Though I think the damage was already done.

BTW: Nice repair! I read somewhere that Dulux matt black emulsion is good for dome interiors.

I painted my bedroom with matt black emulsion when I was teenager. But that was before I went on the bortal.  :icon_clown:

Nice job!

I painted inside my dome with matt black emulsion (although I used homebase own brand as I was being a cheapskate!) - it looks great.

Sunderland astro painted the inside of their original dome with some sort of black paint. It all flaked off in nasty big patches. That was a fibreglass dome as well !!

If yours does do that clean off the paint and repaint with pond type paint.

 Or similar.

Glad you seem to be sorted out though.

I hope you do not run into any problems with the dome drive system over those repaired areas Nigella, our Pulsar drive system can be a bit fussy at times, and that is just on a stock 2.7M dome, the drive just slips at random.
