Its big, very big!

I could not let @xtreemchaos take all the blame for the clouds! I have been on the hunt for a larger refractor for a while and have finally pulled the plug on this beauty! I didn't really appreciate just how long it was going to be.

First light today with the Evostar 120mm, DMK21au618. Pretty pleased with detail in the granulation around the spots

 

And a 12 pane mosaic with the Lunt50mm

 

A pretty decent set of images before the clouds rolled in.

The detail through the Lunt wedge is impressive.

lucky boy Pete. I've been thinking about upgrading from the 102 but I think the extra weight would kill my EQ3. It really must be time to upgrade the mount!

Yes I think it might be a bit much on a EQ3, looks big on my EQ5.

The focuser upgrade is a very nice addition, especially with the 10-1 adjustment. Somebody has also cover the blue tube with a black self adhesive covering, I would have preferred white to be honest

Good buy Peter, and you've already justified whatever it cost, excellent detail in those images.

It will be interesting to see what resolution it can deliver in good seeing. Particularly the fine detail in the Pen Umbra.
