July 6, 2016: Prom detail shots and better WL full disk

Recommended Posts

I captured a couple of longer SER files at slightly longer exposure time, and in 16-bit, to get more prom detail with the ASI174MM this morning. The result of stacking 400 frames out of 2000 showed some great prom detail:

The western proms in part-inverted grey scale:

and pseudo colour:

Eastern-limb proms in part inverted grey scale:

Finally, I shot another SER file this afternoon, using the ASI178MM, but this time I did take a flat. While the flat didn't correct earlier SER files from this morning correctly, it worked well on the new one I got this afternoon. More spots are visible too.

but you will need to inspect the full-size view to see them

Beautiful Michael.  if I had taken the coloured version of the prominences, I would have them framed and on the wall. :icon_biggrin:

These are downright spectacular Michael. Really impressive. Its interesting comparing the color and B&W versions. Both have some merit in different ways.

Great job, Michael.  Those inverts look a mile deep... very nicely done.

It's amazing how sharp these are. Beautiful textures! Everything looks very three dimensional.

Thank you!
