This is a great way to get into the mix without having to go out at night.I have been interested in astronomy since I was  a boy and over the years owned quite a few telescopes. I do not do any viewing anymore except through binoculars and not in -30 Celsius. I expect to learn plenty from others who know a lot more than I do about the heavens.

Hi there,

Warm welcome to sgl. You are in a beautiful part of Alberta. The last time I was in Alberta it was -38 at Calgary and -52 in Jasper!! So I can well understand your viewing, however we were treated to a few nights of brilliant aurora.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Don't blame you wanting to stay in the warm as observing in -30 would certainly be a challenge. I struggle at -3 but I suppose that's summer for you!

Clear skies and hope yo enjoy your stay here.
