Nice one! I'm a big fan of quick phone shots, very little hassle and amazing what you can achieve. You can get a holder to fix the phone onto the eyepiece to make life easier if you want.

I had a little tweak with your image, just using PhotoShop software on my iPhone. I think it brings out a little more detail.

A 12" dob will certainly give you some very nice results using this method. Here are a couple I did with my 12" a while ago. You just need a bit more magnification ie shorter focal length eyepiece!

What a difference with that moon shot.

I think it is a case of knowing what  

tweaks to use, in Photo Shop,to

get that.

For a first image it is a good start.

Even with a picture of this style we can have scientific informations on the constitution of the Moon. 

The different colors correspond to  different materials.
