Hi all,

I have found a prerelease binary version of the upcoming GIMP for Mac OS X. Given it some basic testing, and it works with 32bit FITS data like a treat! Also gave the file basic virus testing, but do crosscheck it again if you download it. You can get it here:

Be careful with prerelease software though. Do keep the originals safe and only work on copies of your data - just in case!

It had to happen some time, though I've come so close to giving up on Gimp. I have tried a couple of the 2.9 builds from dark refraction, though these have always been very buggy - thanks for the heads up, I shall try again :-)

You could also try http://www.partha.com that has both Windows and Mac 2.9 builds, I can't comment on the windows version but the Mac one seems to work well.

Or you could build it yourself but that's a bit of a pain to do ;)

By their very nature development builds are full of bugs, that's why the official release is still 2.8.sumthin.
