Hi Folks,

I have just moved to Somerset having previously been a member of the the IAA in Belfast. Any active society in the Taunton area? IAA is very active with an average monthly meeting attendance of around 50 or 60 and a good speakers program. I'm suffering astronomy withdrawal symptoms at the moment! Barry Phillips

ps on Holiday in Russia at the moment, so posting from Volgograd!

Welcome to SGL from over towards Exmoor :)

I believe there is/was a society that met at Queens School in Taunton.  South Somerset, possibly?  Their website seems to have disappeared though.  If you're actually further out of Taunton this way there's also the Exmoor Stargazers group, but whilst their website is up, it doesn't seem to have been touched in a year or more.

It's awkward when people are spread out over such a large area.  Does make for very dark skies though :)
