I've nothing I'm selling, but I'm not using the AZ GoTo mount and tripod that came with the 8SE that you can borrow, if it is any good to you. It's not very good for mounting longer tubes on though, and it only takes the one kind of dovetail bar.

No worries Neil it is specialised stuff that's why I go to the guys in Sheffield they are very good and do an excellent job.

Just could do with someone a bit closer. Next job for them will be to weld the truss pole ends on.

Gonna have to drop Ryan a mail as I may need some bits doing

Hi there used to be a place near Barnsley football

Don't know if they are still going

Sell sell sell

Haha, using the 8SE OTA for my visual and planetary AP (when I get back into doing planetary AP), however the long term plan may be to sell the 8SE in its entirety to fund the purchase of a 9.25" or 11" OTA. However, that is further down the road. Got an EP collection to start next year first! :)

I'm sure the 8SE would fund an eyepiece or two though?

I have an old book I found while clearing out a house my daughter bought, its called Astronomy by Fred Hoyle circa 1966 cost 63 shillings lol so not cheap, its a bit too techy etc for me at the moment but if anyone wants to borrow it for a read I can bring it to the November meeting, just let me know.

Yes, I'm sure it would fund a nice little collection of a EPs, but I am not going to sell it yet. Still getting enjoyment from it for visual work. It's just a shame that the Goto mount and tripod are not being put to any use. Don't want to sell the 8SE and leave myself without a nice big scope for visual use and planetary imaging. When I sell it, it will be to fund another good size OTA - probably an 11" if I can pick a decent one up second hand. When I'm ready I'll get people to scout one out for me lol ;)

Will be looking at, and testing out, a few ranges of EPs before I decide which to go for. That's fun I'm going to be having next year :)

Vicks - The C11 is a good OTA to own and would complement your set up very well. However it is quite large and heavy so attaching it to your neq6 would be quite a challenge without help! I think it weighs about 13kg!

The C9.25 ould be an easier proposition at just over 9kg on a thinner tube but still not easy!

Someone was selling a 9.25 ota on Facebook the other day, I think it was around the 800 quid mark. I didn't check to see if that was a good price or not

Hasn't Kieran got a C11?

Hmm, might just stick with my 8SE OTA the which weighs in at around 6kg. Could possibly go for the 9.25" if I decide to upgrade in the future.

Yes, I believe Kieran gas got a C11. Would have to see if I could lift it by perhaps testing the weight out on his before going down that route!

Probably the 9.25" will be weighty enough for me to handle.

Anyway, that's something to think about for another time as I'm happy with my 8SE OTA for the time being :)
