Hi everyone,

Anthony here. 29 from Birmingham.

For as long as I can remember I have been awestruck by the Universe but for god knows what reason had never considered astronomy as a hobby. Honestly, I can't tell you how many nights I've spent reading and looking at images online so how I've never considered getting gear and looking into it more is beyond me.

I've recently undertaken a career change and am studying A-level sciences en route to Uni so maybe that'd had a bit to do with it.

Anyway, I've done a fair bit of reading and will be ordering a Skyliner-200P soon. Once I have learned my way around the sky and done some reading I would like to get into astro-photograpy.

I'm unfortunate enough to live in a really heavily light polluted part of Birmingham, but there's some pretty dark countryside near Sutton Coldfield I'm hoping will allow me to get some good views. If anyone has som good recommendations for areas around the Sutton Coldfield area it would be great to hear from you.

I'm thoroughly excited about the hobby and look forward to getting to know you all through the site. There seems an enormous amount to learn, but I can't wait.

Welcome to SGL, well i'm 40 & spent years with the interest but never thought to 'go for it' so glad I did & this forum has some great people with alot of knowledge between them, never be afraid to ask ANY question, no matter how 'daft' it may seem ( I have :smiley: and have had some invaluble advice).
