Took these shots just after midnight in really damp conditions, but the seeing seemed to deteriorate from then on, i think these are the best of the lot. Thanks for looking.

They look like someone spilt blue ink on the image, I think

Paul Abel explained a short while ago however that they're a recognised component of Jupiter's weather patterns and are called (perhaps unsurprisingly) "festoons".

Lovely images Simon particularly as you say given the awful conditions. I could not manage a single image, the seeing was appalling with Jupiter just a shimmering mess. Gave up with dew dripping everywhere and ice on the table - lucky escape though 20mins later it was chucking it down!!! You did well to capture those .

Thanks, my dfk settings! rgb 24-yuy2 30fps 1/30 exposure! images stacked in as!2-50% stack, multi alignment used, wavelets regi 6 tend to use linear gaussian.

Wow, amazing images! I cant get even close to these, very nice.

Do you have any tips as to how you capture so much detail and colour? (*cheek mode*)

Maybe a fast frame rate cam or extremely accurate collimation? (I can only guess.)
