Hi

Thank you for this forum.

I'm rather new to telescopes but not with science.Took my first lesson on electricity at school when I was 14.Started building "Crackers" at the age of 10,was highest junior in the bisley shooting team, top 10 in KZN(South Africa) league pool team at 16,flew aeroplanes as a teen,RC aeroplanes and helicopters..built tesla coils,RGB Lasers from scratch too..I now produce electronic music as a hobby and been into music about 18 years, invented a device that charges with thunderstorms...I struggle to get girlsfriends sometimes people dont understand me the usual reject stuff from school days..I dont own a TV and I like to read and coming here is my next venture to learn something else for a change.

I have some ideas for viewing the sun without forking out loads of cash so I hope to contribute a little bit back to the community.I have my own theories about black holes and possibly "Dark Matter"

Please forgive me if I sound too straight forward... I use a certain kind of english that makes me seem serious but in real life I have a good sense of humor, very easy going and I get on with most people young and very old lol and love a drink too now and then with mates but I never go to pubs.

I busy with a layby at First light optics for an 8" Dobsonian but in the mean time I have a little Vivitar 76mm reflector that gives me nice close ups of the moon and sun...quite frankly it sux on stars lol

Have a nice day :)

Gareth

Hello and welcome to the SGL, Gareth. Sounds like a great history in electronics you been enjoying. I too have been active in electronics since I was about 8 and still active at 64, though not as much lately.

Hi Gareth and welcome to the forum. When I was reading your introduction I thought that you would certainly be at home in the forum's DIY section - then I read more about Tesla coils, shooting etc and thought you might be too dangerous for them! :) (might end up creating a first aid section):):D:D

You sound like someone with a couple of ideas about things and so look forward to your insight in the near future.

Clear skies

James

Hi

Thanks for all the welcome messages!! Some of them quite funny lol yeah England is a nice place and I've met some really good people this side and I really enjoy the fact that the pound is better than the dollar whereas the South African Rand is about 10 times less so hobbies are much harder to pursue so I'm definitely looking forward to getting that 8" Dob I hear so much about.

The first thing I want to post is a way to view the sun without conventional methods...just need to find a good home for the post lol

Thanks and Enjoy your day ;))
