Hi there! Just thought I'd post a friendly hello.

I've always wanted to get into astronomy and no better time to start than now! Unfortunately, I'll have to get out of the city one night to do some decent stargazing... the skies glow orange with the city centre nearby, added with the street lamps! One day...

Hi & Welcome ......:D , there are some good societies near you , Salford Astronomical Society , Manchester AS and Maccelsfield AS . Despite the obvious light pollution I saw my first Aurora at Salford open night some years ago.If you get chance they're well worth a visit on public open nights. I'm quite sure that Salford AS has an 18" scope that was being serviced , wonder how they got on ?
