Setting CCD rotation for imaging
Stuart1971 replied to festoon's topic in Imaging - Tips, Tricks and Techniques
Hi, Yes this is an issue with fully screwed on accessories, I had this same issue, so bought a 2โ Baader clicklock, so then had 2โ nosepiece on the camera and could alter within the clicklock... Then on my newer Tak FSQ85 it came with a camera angle rotator, which are available for other scopes...but not cheap... HTH ๐๐ผ -

Takahashi FS60cb back focus confusion....
Stuart1971 replied to Stuart1971's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Yes but the distance is the same.... -
Hi, I was looking at this data sheet for the Takahashi FS60cb, and am confused by the two measurements circled in red, why are they different....surely they should be the same, and am I correct in thinking that this is the measurement of where the sensor or eyepiece should be to get focus... Can someone explain... ๐๐

You need to set the mount up in a different wifi mode, so you can connect the mount the the Astroberry hotspot, or your home network, whichever one you use...arenโt there two modes on the mount, ? One of them will be to connect this way...the other one that does not show the Synscan network I think......then no need to keep swapping... ๐๐ผ

When you have a working copy of Astroberry on an SD card, just connect the SSD drive via USB and then use the built in copy feature in the menu, and it will give you an exact copy on SSD to then boot from, then keep the SD card as a back up....no need to flash with a new version.... ๐๐ผ

If running from a remote location with no internet, and you are close to the mount, which you probably would be, then the internal hotspot set to 5ghz would be suffice, then your laptop would connect directly to this, you could still use the dongle on the RPI but you would then have to configure the hotspot signal to be output through the dongle, which adds more complications, but either way the internal wifi of the laptop would be fine, as long as it works with 5ghz... ๐๐

Also this one is excellent and faster....but a little more difficult to get working with the RPI... ๐ https://www.amazon.co.uk/BrosTrend-1200Mbps-Wireless-10-9-10-14-AC1/dp/B01BV91L7Y/ref=sr_1_8?adgrpid=53509367259&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA88X_BRDUARIsACVMYD_gO4JllwqID7ug5L0OhjsjcSr4UeMDoeOxysavjYv3yvUxUXx4g8gaAtJzEALw_wcB&hvadid=259134785219&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9041125&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9483005099257091893&hvtargid=kwd-316334266443&hydadcr=25429_1819498&keywords=brostrend+wifi+adapter&qid=1609686497&sr=8-8&tag=googhydr-21

Well I already had the Pegasus UPB when I moved to the RPI, so that acts as my USB 2 and 3 hub, and powers all my kit, and the RPI is powered from one of the USB ports 5v 3 amp, now 3amp may seem low, but I have never had an issue with this, as the guys from Pegasus told me that it would be fine,... As for Wifi dongle it is this one, although I bought on an offer... https://www.amazon.co.uk/BrosTrend-Wireless-Network-Receiver-AC2/dp/B01GC8XH0S/ref=sr_1_7?adgrpid=53509367259&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA88X_BRDUARIsACVMYD_gO4JllwqID7ug5L0OhjsjcSr4UeMDoeOxysavjYv3yvUxUXx4g8gaAtJzEALw_wcB&hvadid=259134785219&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9041125&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9483005099257091893&hvtargid=kwd-316334266443&hydadcr=25429_1819498&keywords=brostrend+wifi+adapter&qid=1609686497&sr=8-7&tag=googhydr-21

Yes I did....as thatโs the one most people use, I actually wrote โNUC or similarโ.... As for power, first of all most of them are either 19v with some 12v, as for power draw, I would think similar to the RPI....up to 4 Amp...
-
The secret to no issues, is a good quality USB 3 powered hub, and a good 4 amp 5v power supply, I only have two USB connected to the RPI, and that is the Hub and WiFi dongle....works a treat...as for heat issues, mine has never gone above 50 degrees inside while testing, and 36 degrees outside while using and that was a summer evening, much lower in the winter. But admittedly, I use a USB 3 wifi external dongle as itโs much faster at 867 mbps and cost ยฃ9 from Amazon, and internal wifi is not used, although the hotspot is a available on that if I need it... If you do use internal wifi it should be only the 5ghz one, as the 2.4ghz does interfere with the USB, as they share the same BUS....also set to Chanel 44... ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ
-
Hmmm, I dont really agree entirely with this...it does not need to cost anywhere near ยฃ180+. RPI 4, 4gb, SD card and powered USB hub, ยฃ80 at most, a small 12v to 5v buck converter to power ยฃ5, and thatโs all you need.... also itโs much smaller and lighter than any Intel NUC or similar, also you have the option of just running it as a server and using a PC indoors, if you prefer, and I never had any Wi-Fi or USB issues.... The RPI runs Kstars as well as any small PC as the software is designed to run of system with less resources. Just my opinion.... ๐๐ผ

Welcome to the simple side, I love Astroberry and it runs my whole rig flawlessly...and I also have the same case that you have purchased....I run it all from AB and VNC in to it, but I run mine from a 120gb SSD drive and not the SD card, it natively boots from USB with the latest firmware updates, and it roughly six times faster, ideal for saving large images during a session.... ๐๐ผ๐

After reading your post again, are you saying that the damp is purely from the roof needing repairs, or is it there all the time...? If just temporary because of repairs needed, then, yes go for the dehumidifier, but if an issue all the time, then you should treat the cause and not the symptoms....hence my first post of ventilation and a bit of heat... But for the obsy, it needs really good ventilation and then no dehumidifier will be needed... ๐
-
The other option, is to not bother with one at all, ventilation plus a bit of heat, means not condensation.... infact in your case, ventilation will be all you will need, as you will get heat up through the the Floors... ๐๐ผ

Your welcome.... As for the filter, the CLS should be fine, but will depend on your skies where you live and where they are on the bottle scale....the more LP the stronger the filter you will need..... -

Oh, and to take a custom white balance image, put the CLS in the camera and take an image of a piece of neutral grey photographic card, on a bright day with the sun behind you, and make sure it fills the frame, then set this as the custom white balance....this works very well, some people say to use white card, but I found neutral grey much better and itโs also recommended in many places... ๐๐ผ
