  1. No, you said the 571 was, I was just re iterating that, and adding the 533 into the mix of being better, maybe i was not clear with my grammar….🤔 plus you said “slightly” better and I stated “much” better….if you want to split hairs…
  2. Hmmm, I would argue that both the IMX533 and 571 are much better than the 460 CCD camera…
  3. Helicoil will work, but you will have to drill out to the next size up and tap, to fit that in anyway…👍🏻
  4. If that question is for me, then Tinkercad…👍🏻
  5. Just designed a holder for the RPI HQ camera to fit to the outside lot of my new enclosure, will be screwed from the underside of the lid and sealed in, has an upstand so the dome can be fitted with just 4 screws and no sealant needed under dome lip, so dome can be removed easily to focus etc…the upstand inside the dome will stop any moisture getting to the camera board..holes to fix dome will be drilled when fitting. also put a 2mm recess for the heater ring around the camera lens hole.. Just need all the bits to arrive now to build version 2 of my AllSky… BTW thanks @Budgie1 for the heads up about the RPI installer, as that makes things much easier being able to set Wi-Fi and so on, up on the install, it can all be accessed wirelessly now for the allsky software install..
  6. I just sent the Module 3 back, as the FOV was pretty dire compared to my current HQ camera and lens, and all the faffing to get focus (auto focus no good on stars) was just not worth it, as it does change over time with different temps, so am sticking with the HQ camera and re building version 2 of my AllSky camera..with a RPI4 instead of the Zero version 2…new housing, heater and dome…😀
  7. Well even when I fill in the letters in the box, it still does not work, and never had a problem before with YT videos….🤔🤔 very odd
  8. Am I the only one seeing this, on the first post, never seen before and have now seen it on a few threads…what am I missing, as am using an iPad…🤔🤔
  9. I have just ordered the new camera / lens combo as mention above, to replace my AllSky camera, but it is only a 120 degree angle, so not sure how much sky I will lose from my current 170 degree one….but I am hoping it will be ok, as I like the autofocus idea, as mine is a pain to focus and it seems to have to be re done every 6 months or so, not sure why…
  10. What does the new FW actually give you, I know it says new high speed mode, but what does this mean for deep sky imaging….?
  11. 😂😂 TBH I never like doing it either, as I have had issues in the past doing FW updates, and it went wrong, (not on Astro kit I might add) and then I swore I would never do it again unless something was not working and really needed an update..it’s the old adage, “if it ain’t t broke don’t fix” so to answer your question, nooooooo I’m not going first….after you 😂😂😂
  12. Try the M6 you have, by hand, if it’s an imperial hole it will go in about 1.5 turns then stop…and you will know….👍🏻
  13. Ok, so in theory his should have been better, maybe his cooler is not working….🤔
  14. Yea it does, and I agree with you, he does seem to have a lot more hot pixels, I assume you both had same temps on the frames…? As that is what will make the difference…
  15. Took me a while to get the text nice and neat in the top left corner, as it was all overlapping…. And the image flipped to correct orientation…getting there slowly…
  16. Looks good, i have updated mine to the new version of the software as it was quite old what I was using, and TBH I don’t find the images as good, either very blue of very green, I have it running now in daytime and looks ok, but at night was not good at all, and it used to be great… my focus is a bit off to ATM also how do you get it to display the full year of 2023 as mine only displays 23, see image below..
  17. Those are not darks he has posted but bias frames, and if blown up to the point of the pixels looking square then all out frames would look like that…yours look the same as mine…
  18. They are not darks at that short exposure, they are bias frames….and look perefectly normal, unless of course you blow them up to the sizeyou have… Dark Frames should be the same length as the light exposures you are going to use, 0.5 is not a dark at all but a bias frame… You are worrying over nothing here…
  19. With some work on the mount, you should get 0.5 RMS easily with the mount you have….maybe some tweaking on the bear engagement, and if you don’t have already the belt mod would be good….👍🏻
  20. It was me who said that SM was better than the ASIair, and I do believe that, but it’s my opinion, and the fact it caters for all cameras is part of that opinion, and yes SM was around using indi long long before ZWO “borrowed” the idea….but I think part of the license for them to be able to use the open source software was to lock it to there kit only. If they could allow it to work on all cameras, they surely would as it would make them a fortune….shame they could not build there own from scratch…
  21. AFAIK, SM does work on the ASIair, I had an ASIair for a short while to evaluate and ditched it pretty quick and went back to SM, I now use QHY cameras… Not sure on the power port issue as I have always used a Pegasus UPB so it’s never something I have needed. Yes SM does rely on ekos, PhD2 plate solving etc, you are correct there… The app is much further down the line that that statement makes out, I think that has been there a long time, as I saw that 2 years ago…. The only issue i has with SM on a PI mounted on my rig, was over VNC at 4k resolution it could be laggy, but that where the app then comes in, if it has been as stable as windows Remote Desktop is, I would have stuck at using it that way, and running it all from the RPI on the mount… I don’t like ASIair because of the lock in with ASI kit, if it worked with other cameras great, but they can’t do that as I believe it’s part of the license or it will encroach on SM customers….and that was the deal I believe….and rightly so, or Jasem would be out of business….as he can’t compete with ZWO…yet… Although since the 2 guys who owned ZWO split, I think they’re products have suffered a bit, as it was the main man who left and founded Player one Astronomy….
