  1. Only recently got back into solar imaging after an 8-9 year gap. Have a complete new set up now. First image not great and was getting horrid newtons rings. Have afew things to try to get rid of them. But have to start somewhere to get back into it. Amazed how improved the capture and stacking software has become since.
  2. Thanks Hughsie, I. Just noticed the front lens part of the Asi 120mm screws off. Will try it next sunshine we get but are the internal reflections coming from the Lunt optical train or does the camera lens window also add newtons rings? It would be quickly swapped into the Lunt eyepiece so little chance of dust. Anyone tried this?
  3. Hi Elp, yes filters in the B600 diagonal.
  4. Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Iv just got back into solar imaging with a Lunt LS50THa and Asi 120mm mini, now I never used to get newton Rings with my old pst. What gives the most sucessfull end result flats or a tilt adapter? I'm assuming not having them to start with is the way to go. Now where in my lint pic would the tilt adapter fit in as the back focus etc is critical. Also what's is the best method of taking solar flats? I see sharpcap has a flats sections but it's paid for. Has anyone used this and is it worth purchasing. ?
  5. Hello I'm not really a visual astronomer. But iv recently taken hold of a Lunt LS50THa so would like do some visual with this scope. Can anyone recommend decent eyepieces. Iv got basic plossol ones. Thanks.
  6. Hello It's been many years since iv used sharpcap and recently downloaded the updated version. Afew differences... In the drop down menu mono 8 and mono 16 is this just 8 bit and 16 bit images? Also when using mono 16 it saves as a SER file. My comp won't open this file. What prog do I need to open this. Also what's the difference between them. Thanks
  7. Any ideas will the asi120mm mini slide into the eyepiece all the way down??
  8. On the field of view calculator the Asi120mm looks like it fills up the sensor snug. Would there be any issues achieving focus with this camera? Id bought it for imaging as I previously owned a pst and wanted something bigger and I had a 2nd hand quark that was very disappointing, unsure if it was faulty. Unfortunately a Lunt 60 is way out my price range.
  9. Hello, iv recently taken ownership of a new Lunt LS50THa solar scope, calling all owners can you show me your imaging set up, what camera do you find suits this scope best for imaging. Iv started looking at at few field of view calculators. Full disc close up.imaging would make things easier I guess? Thanks
  10. Which cam is the solar pic taken with? I'm.assuming that's double stacked?
  11. It was my understanding mono gives higher resolution for imaging. Does the increased frame rate counteract this when using modern colour cameras then. I haven't owned a planetary cam for a good while maybe the technology has come on some.?
  12. Do they do a mono version of the Asi224? Don't seem to see anything online.
  13. Hello Iv recently acquired a solar telescope, I don't want to have to demount my deepsky imaging rig off my heq5 so want a fairly light mount to hand so I can track the sun to do visual and solar Imaging. I'm not wanting to spend much. I'm aware an EQ mount is more suited but thought there might be cheaper alt/az options. Scope is light so won't need much payload capacity. Any one have any suggestions or what might be suitable. Thanks.
