  1. Nigella, this thread is useless without photos....
  2. Well done to the council for stepping up and trying to sort things out for you. Good luck!
  3. I have done similar, purchasing a plastic dustbin which goes over the mount, resting on the pier plate before the cover goes on. Also protects the cover from abrasion on corners and edges.
  4. How does the 80ED get along with a ZWO ASI290MC? Seriously considering one of these!
  5. Nice images Steve. It is almost like a mirror has been placed on the 'equator' and a collection of spots is reflected.
  6. Good to see more progress and that the council have responded. May I suggest an e mail to the council to thank them for their remedial action (even if you are going to need a bit more) ? I believe an acknowledgement goes a long way. Some poor council folk hear nothing but negatives and moans.
  7. The time has come to start dreaming about new shiny. I will be looking for a refractor for use as a travel scope and an AP scope. Has anyone got any experience of the RVO range of doublets and if so, what do you think? Thanks, Matt
  8. Not a great deal to show? A new powerfile, angle alloy and steel sheet in your possession is not to be sniffed at... 👍
  9. I had problems getting my camera to be recognised- it turned out to be n issue with the USB port I was using- swapped ports and problem solved.
  10. Very nice job @PadrePeace One thought I have just had- would forgoing the Gorilla Glue during reassembly and relying on the grub screws still produce a secure enough fit but allow stripping down even further into a smaller bag?
  11. A tidy (in more ways than one) bit of kit!
  12. I can't see the image Carole? Must be a problem my end.
  13. I hope you have a result with the council. Sending them the images you have included will hopefully help them understand the issues they have caused.
  14. The most elegant looking dew shield I have seen for a while👍
  15. Warranty is the reason to buy local- any issues are the responsibility of the retailer. Buy it direct from China and you have to get it back to them (at your cost, at least initially) and run the gamut of Customs clearance. Others have struggled to get HMRC to understand the difference between a new/ second hand import and a returned repaired item.
  16. I had to look twice at what I think is your post hole digger before I twigged what it was. I'm used to seeing them as a two handle set up.
  17. Looking good Mike. Shots of tools- powered or otherwise are always welcome, especially unusual tools that get the mind working.
  18. This has turned into a proper civil engineering project! Well done.
  19. Ags, I'm with PeterC65 on this. To me, the callout line format seems more intuitive but, the main thing is, it is your book- what you prefer goes!
  20. A colleague had to trim a carbon fork steerer tube on a high end bike the other day. I managed to salvage the off it which I repurposed today. I found an end cap that was a little oversize so I wrapped some insulation tape around the end of the tube to fit. I drilled a hole in the cap and secured it in place with some more tape. I then took an offcut of grease proof paper and taped it to the opposite end. Having done this, I dug around in the spares box and found a pylon from a cheap RDF I bought for my mirrorless camera, used some self adhesive pads to stick the tube to the mount then reinforced it with a couple of zip ties. It seems to work fine hand held. I just need to wait for the right weather and a day off to test it in anger.
  21. I would keep it as one volume also. 1.1 kg isn't a lot and it will help it stay in one place when there is a bit of a breeze!
