  1. Another obsy build thread for me to follow! I love obsy build threads😀
  2. My processing is slowly improving and my ability to sharpen has certainly improved. I am now revisiting older data that I failed on previously. Tycho through C6 SCT/ ASI290MC/ HEQ5PRO Best 20% of 1000 frames stacked in Autostakkert! and adjusted for colour and levels in GIMP.
  3. Grey would look quite good on that but, I would also consider a white stripe (NOT Jack of Seven Nation Army fame!) along the drop off edge of the wall as a safety feature- can't have you stepping off the edge during an evenings observing. Especially if fueled by Kopparberg!
  4. Thanks @symmetal I will revisit the processing based on your tips. I am currently at the stage in my processing journey where, in most cases, the default options are left as they are as I don't know enough abut stuff to feel confident in meddling.
  5. How do I correct this error? Thanks, Matt.
  6. Thanks for the info Alan. Not had this before on other lunar captures using the same rig. Could it be the altitude of the moon at the moment?
  7. Hi Carole, No I didn't use a filter. Matt
  8. Really nice to follow your progress again Stephen. Re your keyless chuck on your drill, might you be able to source a replacement keyed chuck for it?
  9. A few months ago, I found a screw thread mount Hanimar 135mm f3.5 telephoto lens in my local charity shop for £4. I thought this worth a punt so snaffled it up. My first attempts after connecting it to the ASI290MC were a failure as I couldn't achieve focus. I purchases an extension tube (you apparently can never have too many extension tubes?) and on 7th July, put it all together and pointed it at the moon. The below is the product of the best 20% of 1000 frames, stacked and sharpened in Autostakkert! No subsequent post processing other than a conversion to .png via Paint.net. Not perfect but, for £4 I'm quite chuffed.
  10. The carina Nebula has just become my wallpaper. Beautiful image.
  11. Did a couple of runs on the moon last night using Sharpcap- the first time I have used it. The product is red as below which baffles me. What have I done wrong here? Celestron C6 SCT, ASI290MC, 1000 frames, the best 205 of which have been stacked and sharpened in Autostakkert!
  12. All on Celestron C6 SCT/ ASI290MC/ HEQ5PRO. Best 20% of 1000 frames stacked and sharpened in Autostakkert! 1st Image straight white light through Baader film. 2 and 3 with Baader continuum filter. AR3052 and 3053 AR3055 with a bit of a filament at the left edge I think. If so, this is a first for me. AR3046 and 3051 I believe.
  13. I bet that well earned cider went down a treat! Good work Sir.
  14. Archeology update:- Had to dig out the deeds of the house the other day and remembered it included some old mapping. It turns out that the plot was a pub in a previous life and the building under the pier was a storeroom and urinal...... Knowing my luck I was dealing with the urinal part😁
  15. There is nothing wrong with that image @DaveS- at east to my uneducated eye. I like the way the intended targets stand out against a well populated background of stars.
  16. Nice installation @Adreneline I like the decoarative additions.
  17. Just seen a meteor on the feed a few seconds ago!
  18. Not a criticism, this is a complement- your image looks almost too good to be true. Lovely capture, processing and integration of the two elements.
  19. Try keeping them in the airing cupboard or popping them in the oven for a little while on a very low heat or as the oven cools after use?
  20. Good to see more progress Stephen. Be careful you don't overdo it whilst not 100%. Re the street light, it looks like the council have done everything they can, which is a pain for you.
