  1. I have a permanent pier in the garden and I cover the mount with an upturned plastic dustbin and a Telegizmo 356 cover. The cover was too long for the height of my set up so I trimmed a foot off the bottom. Telegizmo do covers that will work on most set ups though they are not cheap.
  2. The sec is accepted as being far longer than a second. Ask anyone to do something and then start counting after they reply "Just a sec". You will always get to at least 10 seconds before action starts.
  3. The term Git (or GIT if you are shouting) is a friendly derogative which I use when folk make my brain explode.
  4. Having a quick nose around Clacton on Sea on Google Earth reveals a few towers still standing.
  5. Once again, I declare you all GIT! I have been trying to assimilate the information under discussion and my brain just exploded....

  11. A cracking report about what sounds like a fantastic marathon session! The images of your scope frosted up have got me sitting here shivering.
  12. Nice work John. I quite like the cable management solution you have used also.
  13. I don't understand what has occurred here. Celestron C6 SCT on HEQ5Pro with ASI290MC. Dew heater strap at corrector plate end. 30 X 30 sec lights, 10 X 30 sec Darks 10 X Bias. Stacked in DSS and levels adjusted via GIMP
  14. It is nice when neighbours remove a huge monstrosity isn't it?
  15. Whilst setting up to do a bit of guiding practice in the vicinity of M42 earlier, I thought I was being satellite bombed as there was a streak of light in a capture but the very next capture, this streak had broken into 3 or 4 separate entities, each with a trail of its own. I wonder if it was re-entering junk burning up? I don't know if PHD2 saves images. If it does, I might be ale to dig it out.
  16. Thanks David. My laptop was freezing on the setting properties but following your advice has worked
  17. I have recently installed GSS and I believe that you can link it to a planetarium programme (Stellarium/ CdC) and utilise functions to pick a target and instruct to slew. I have had a look and see that there is a CdC serve tab in the GSS Main Screen but I cant get it to work. I have Skycharts Cartes du Ciel installe. Do I need more? What am I doing wrong?

  19. Nice report powerlord. Really glad things are working for you.
  20. Lots of cables and a laptop screen as I did the first set up run of my kit with a guide scope and camera. Successful set up of GSS and partial success on PHD2. Just got to make sure the right camera is linked to PHD2 and get the focus done. Oh, I saw some stars as well!
  21. yes, I did have the extender fitted. I had a thought last night though, I wonder if PHD2 was detecting the imaging camera as well as the guide cam and had defaulted to that?
