  1. Rather good Adam, always like something different. Mick.
  2. Very nice image indeed. Mick.
  3. Very nice image Carole,to see it enveloped in so much dust is refreshing, most people tend to go with deep rich colours when imaging this Nebulae.Nothing wrong in doing that at all,but think this is proberbly what you may see,if you could view it up close. I can only really see subtle changes from your original post,so I don't think you were too much off the mark with that one. Mick.
  4. Thanks Olly.Appreciate the comments, will have a look at the green. Mick.
  5. Thankyou Steve, much appreciate the comment. Mick.
  6. Certainly is Alan, even when things go right. Mick.
  7. Thanks Wim,i will try that on my next bright star target. Cheers Alan. Just thinking out aloud.I thought for the amount of time pent on this,i would have achieved a better result. I,ll still plod on. Mick.
  8. Me thinks its time to pack this lark in.
  9. Hi. IC2169 is a very faint Reflection Nebulae in Monoceros. This Nebulae is so faint it did,nt even show after a 600 sec sub. Also can be seen at the upper right is a smaller Nebulae NGC2245. This is an RGB image only as I found adding a luminance tended to produce larger stars, which I thought distracted form the image. It was taken using my 80ED scope and Atik ccd mono camera.18x 600 second subs were each taken for the RGB.The image was fully calibrated with Bias/Darks and Flats. Minimal processing was done in Photo-Shop. Cheers. Mick.
  10. Looks good to me. My only observation is because you have had to stretch this proberbly more than you,d like, to bring out the detail ,the noise is just starting to have a slight effect. But nonetheless a cracking image. Mick.
  11. Hi Rodd. The Ha data is really good, and I do like that image a lot.But I don't think you have hit your goal,or your usual exerllent standard with the Bi-Colour image. It does,nt sit quite right to my eyes at least. I don't think your totally happy with the Bi-Colour either. Colour though is a personal preference, and I,m sure other people will love it. Mick.
  12. Hi Bryan. When I first saw the colour image,i thought and to a point still think the Red is over saturated, and did,nt sit quite right with me. But as I scrolled next to the image showing the Ha data on its own,i was really impressed, the subtle detail and depth is quite remarkable. To me this is this is the outstanding image. But I realise colour is subjective, and is an individual preference. So please dont take any offense from my casual remark. Mick.
  13. When I first looked at this I thought Oops, then I studied it further and then thought Wow. Exerllent job. Mick.
  14. Hi Carole. I think you have done an amazing job at processing this Nebulae, one I have yet to try .Your initial gut instinct for number one was correct,at least with me,there is something about it that gives it a more balanced look. There is always a but though. The blue halo around the stars is this unavoidable? However very nice. Mick.
  15. Hi Pid. I,m no expert but to me the data you have is very noisey and grainy. Also you have,nt quite got focus, the stars are a little bloated. You have only taken 10 darks, but I would push for maybe up to 30 to get a good master dark.Another important calibration Frame is Flats. To me Flats are the most important of Calibration. Were your darks taken at the same temperature as the lights, and for the same duration (240secs). Regarding adding the Ha detail,i would apply it initially only to the RED channel of the RGB,theirfore avoiding the salmon colour effect. You can blend the Ha at 100% opacity,or better still maybe around 25-30% to avoid washing out the colours, and ending up with a dominant red.Although I often do end up with an overall red Nebulae. Other people better qualified may chip in with this,so you would get better overall info. But well done with what you have achieved here. Mick.
  16. That's a good effort for a camera lens.Build from this. Mick.
  17. Yes.I would love a Triplet, but alas not. Thanks for the comment. Mick.
  18. Very nice image Brian, love the detail and the colours. Mick.
  19. Hi. I had a go at imaging NGC1977 or The Running Man Nebulae. You often see this Nebulae combined with M42 when imaging a wider field. It was taken last night with my ED80 and Atik 314L+ ccd camera. I shot 18x600 second subs for the Luminance, and 12x600 second subs for the RGB.This is an LRGB image. The centre stars are very bright and nearly overwhelm the image. They showed up quite bloated in the L and B Frames, and were difficult to control in processing.I don't think I have done a great job with this. Full calibration frames were applied. Cheers. Mick.
  20. So you should be,a very nice image indeed. Mick.
  21. Totally agree Richard.Exerllent work. Mick.
  22. Looking good Francis. Mick.
