  3. Hi guys could any Skywatcher quattro 250 owners tell me how good the focuers is? I have been eyeing up a Quattro F4 250 for a while now and rather than upgrade the focuser on my 200PDS (as its struggling with my Nikon) if its a much better one then I will upgrade the OTA instead! make sense? unless its the same focuser as the 200PDS of course then its back to the drawing board. many thanks
  4. I have only used it to do a quick test to see if it works (which it does) so can't comment on any reliability testing but using an rpi4 with astroberry i could only get it to work plugging the usb into the hand controller and setting it into PC direct mode. it shows up as a prolific device __ Port 3: Dev 5, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=pl2303, 12M
  5. Gina the the board only needs to move a fraction on the mounting screws to make a difference. i have experienced the same with mine loosened the screws move the board slightly and tightened
  6. I found this with a cheapo one I had from Ebay. It melted the hot glue in the assembly and caused loads of damage. It's now in the bin Where did you get the good one from and what model?

  13. Not sure i should ask this question here but here goes does the EQ6-R have a competitor? if so what would be its nemesis?
  14. I am seriously contemplating upgrading from my HEQ5 Pro (belt Modded) to the EQ6 R pro 2 questions if I may? 1, how much would my HEQ5 Pro be expected to fetch ? 2, is the HEQ6 R Pro available as head unit only as I have a pier? many thanks
  15. Hi guys I have an issue with the power on the 9v supply on the powertank its no longer 9v but 4.75! and the 6v is 2.5. the 12V circuit is all good at 12.75v this 9v only powers my focuser so not a major problem but would be nice to fix it. i have opened up the unit and see the board that steps down the voltage with an array of diodes can someone tell me what could have possible failed? also who knew the red light is removable on a real of cable and a magnet to attach it to anything!!
  16. This is indeed very interesting. would this cause what looks like a star vibrating? I posted a question a short while ago about my HEQ5pro. I don't usually use it for visual but while checking focus i noticed that the star i was looking at was indeed vibrating and this could account for my struggle to get sharp images with my setup!
  17. I have a belt driven HEQ5pro with a 200PDS on a pier setup last night for the first time in ages and i appear to have a constant vibration that you can only see when using a small eyepiece the stars look like they are just vibrating slightly! could this be the gear mesh too tight maybe? this could be the cause of my fuzzy images as well
  18. as long as you get the new version of the board its fixed https://hackaday.com/2020/02/23/raspberry-pi-slips-out-new-pcb-version-with-usb-c-power-fix/

  20. there has been a recent fix for the psu on the RPI4 that wont accept many different supplies. the main board has been changed around the USB C connector so that it accepts any psu via the USB C i run a supply directly into the gpio connector which also gets around this
