best exposure times
CedricTheBrave replied to CedricTheBrave's topic in Getting Started With Imaging
I will have a play with that although I am nearly all raspberry now apart from one pc I watched the video (head exploded a little) so may also look at sharp cap However the consensus appeared to be too short is bad to long is bad so find somewhere in the middle -

it did have more colour when I stacked it but that seamed to have disappeared when i removed the back ground a little need a lot more practise with processing but it does eat time! -
at the moment I have a 200P-DS and with either the Canon 1300d or Nikon 7000 i tend to take 180sec or 240 sec images and stack them these times are just a guess. now i was wondering today after reading up on the quattro F4 newts that as they are faster what would my ideal exposure time be ? how do you calculate the best exposure time is longer better or shorter and more of them? is there a way of calculating this?

CedricTheBrave replied to BargeGazer's topic in Discussions - Software
You could just plug it in to the router directly with a network cable -
64bit beta is out though

Astroberry / KStars on Rpi - advice needed
CedricTheBrave replied to teoria_del_big_bang's topic in Discussions - Software
I run it all on the rpi4 i cannot see how it would work if it did lose connection as the session would be interrupted so an abort would happen. I cannot see any benefit of running them separately @RadekK may be able to confirm -

i dont have mine set like that, I dont select a guide cam in the ekos settings just choose phd guiding. i then use phd to connect to the camera and and the indi server for the mount then select guide in ekos and it connects to phd and if needed does a calibration then starts guiding does that make sense? -
fortunately i am home based never take it any further so mains will do thank you.

Looks like I need to retire the power tank! First successful 2 star align with no weird slews ! Using a mains 12v psu that usually powers my camp fridge 😁 Thank you guys I appreciate the input

the reason i was using the handset was because I was getting weird results on eqmod i am going to try a mains psu tonight

I have had a HEQ5pro for years and now just upgraded so I know a little about using these but i am getting a little concerned i am doing something stupid or missing something out. it just wont align and seems to be doing weird stuff its on my pier and polar aligned, balanced and level, go through initialisation and enter all details etc select 2 star alignment first star Arcturus it starts its slew and goes off towards capella! pauses for a second and then slews again and goes near Arcturus ok so i think just a glitch and we are close so i move the mount with the buttons to get Arcturus centered. next star Dubhe, slews round sort of close but not really move it around for what seems ages finally find it and centre select ok and it says successful. so i think ok lets do this again start 2 star align again slew to Arcturus still miles out takes ages to find it but get it in the end next star thought i would try Vega slews over and carries on and on and eventually i have to stop it as it looking at my lawn!! its plain weird psu is fully charged skywatcher powertank red light on mount it on solid so no power low detected tried factory reset updated firmware to latest its also a lot noisier than the HEQ5pro any help gratefully received

Quattro focuser
CedricTheBrave replied to CedricTheBrave's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
ok guys thanks for the info you have helped a lot -
Hi guys could any Skywatcher quattro 250 owners tell me how good the focuers is? I have been eyeing up a Quattro F4 250 for a while now and rather than upgrade the focuser on my 200PDS (as its struggling with my Nikon) if its a much better one then I will upgrade the OTA instead! make sense? unless its the same focuser as the 200PDS of course then its back to the drawing board. many thanks

EQMod using the new USB connections on the SW NEQ6-R
CedricTheBrave replied to Merlin66's topic in Discussions - Software
I have only used it to do a quick test to see if it works (which it does) so can't comment on any reliability testing but using an rpi4 with astroberry i could only get it to work plugging the usb into the hand controller and setting it into PC direct mode. it shows up as a prolific device __ Port 3: Dev 5, If 0, Class=Vendor Specific Class, Driver=pl2303, 12M
