  1. Lovely to read that, super
  2. I like Aurora watch UK, there are two apps their display flavor differs, install both see which you prefer
  3. It's freeing to make changes that keep your hobby alive for you. There are lots of possibilities I enjoy capturing meteors inside through double glazing not ideal I'm told but it works for me. Good luck with your observing
  4. There is lots of helpful info on this by member sharkmelley I think covering same thing
  5. There is an unofficial manual on the startools download page, though module use pages which are in the startools forum are very good too
  6. It's in the guide linked above, but first before twiddling any adjustments on your telescope I'd check your laser collimator is true
  7. Key things level mount and telescope is horizontal and the open/glass end faces north and telescope is mounted on the left side of your az-gti
  8. I like using 1 star alignment for several reasons 1- in my limited viewing angles I can choose which star I think should be visible 2- the mount will slew to where it thinks the star selected is 3- I can repeat the one star alignment as many times as I like using different stars to increase the mount's alignment accuracy
  9. Possibly if it too uses a diagonal with an eyepiece. While waiting for any part to arrive can use the camera on the diagonal if your nighti is clear
  10. For now quick fix leave everything wasil is just rotate your telescope 180°
  11. The orientation of the telescope is facing wrong way on az firmware. The az-gti needs to look like a welly boot with the telescope on left side of the leg and the telescope pointing north and level
  12. New is az firmware so left mounted
  13. Az firmware O[__ Eq firmware __]O O = telescope facing North and level (no wedge) __] = az-gti
  14. What firmware is on your az-gti?
  15. Your image shows right sided mounted assuming telescope is pointing north you'll need the eq firmware for that. Left sided mounted mounting for as shipped firmware (or az firmware) Even if using eq firmware in altaz mode telescope still needs to be right sided mounting.
  16. I have for what I have tried on win11 PC has wifi the following connection routine works. PC has latest skywatcher Ascom driver 140 and sharpcap 4.1 pro. Have a successful evening order connected using synscan dongle to az-gti (the dongle I already have has stronger wifi for me) telescope was facing north level and horizontal, turn on az-gti 1- connect PC wifi to az-gti 2- connect mobile phone wifi (needed I understand) 3- start mobile synscan pro app and connect I did a one star alignment crudely 4- on pc start ascom and connect 5- start phd2 and connect mount etc. (if using pdh2) 6- start sharpcap and connect 7- start stellarium and connect (if using) every thing is connecting and staying connected
  17. Where you using the C6 on eq or altaz mode though What bortle skies are you please @choppies ?
  18. Welcome Things to consider are where will the telescope and mount be stored and are there stairs between storage and observing location? Probability and weight are quite personal considerations when choosing. Also things to consider like will I need a table to put the telescope on or a chair to sit on. The best telescope is the one you'll use which might not be the biggest one for your circumstances
  19. your filter may already be cutting the UV and IR ends of the spectrum, have a look at the bandpass chart for your filter
  20. just sharing how I got starnet++ to run within Siril 1.2.0 GUI win11 extract the latest command line starnet all files to your local windows PC folder of choice run Siril, open an image file, Siril preferences / miscellaneous under software location set starnet to the startnet++.exe in your local starnetcli folder just extracted above and Apply, now under Image Processing / star processing / starnet star removal should be ok
  21. I don't know anything about it but what about moving the kit to an astro hosting site, you'd still be using it
  22. What about use a tablet for stellarium and not the PC would that get around the connection dropping
  23. It's a triplet which gives it a head start. I like seeing the images and Cuiv has done a couple watchable videos on it
