  1. With the ra clutch loose does the mount have free and easy movement full circle? What's the attitude like when also clutch loose are there any sticky patches?
  2. I wouldn't change anything in your next test other than ensure you have removed both the filters discovered to have been fitted at the same time when you got the Christmas tree shaped stars. I'd get a clear control test in before evaluating any other change.
  3. Nice to see some captures. Nothing on my camera it was fairly patchy cloud, it ran from just after 12 to 4 ish
  4. If you're taking video then have a go with astrostakkert with one of your videos, Keep the video short enough so the whole planet is included start to finish
  5. New synscan version in Google Play today 14th that was quick, super
  6. No luck last night so will try again tonight with the Lego mounted all sky camera. The camera runs once the street lights go out until the battery goes flat around 4 am
  7. it might be an idea to test your camera now on a static tripod. Face east or west keeping altitude reasonably low take a single shot with your widest lens on a dark clear night. Taking your widest lenses 600/28 gives roughly 21 seconds before startrails. Take an image Turn off in camera noise suppression if you can Take another shot Compare images to see what impact in camera noise suppression has on the stars, you may find some have disappeared, this may be acceptable for you.
  8. I've been using that FF for well over two years now it works great for me
  9. A wobbly tripod is more stable when it's used not fully extended, sitting to view is often quite comfortable and to be patient to see those moments of detail. Jupiter can be great for observing but is usually being there in the moment of clarity between Jupiter being jiggly again.
  10. Paintshop pro is another similar to photo elements, but I also often use GIMP as well. As GIMP is free there is nothing lost in installing it and having a go. Paint.NET is free and might be similar too. I've not used it
  11. I'm playing with a Lego build as making a change to my incidental all sky camera which is now the 290mc I was fortunate to pick up from here, to use with the 2" iruv filter also picked up.
  12. During the day could try gain 50 and exposure 30ms. The camera is way more sensitive then a general point and shoot camera.
  13. perhaps short exposures are the natural way to less stars too, stars are good
  14. You'll need to refocus when swapping the eyepiece for the neximage. It's easier to get a feel for infinity focus if you try it during the day on a very distant tree (not the sun)
  15. At least it's for sale in the UK now I've seen two retailers
  16. That didn't take long, hope it's fixed your mount
  17. Have you checked your webcam can be controlled with say sharpcap or fire capture?
  18. I use this https://www.firstlightoptics.com/zwo-accessories/zwo-t2-to-125-filter-holder.html To use 1.25 filters with my ZWO camera, though I'm using the starizona filter. Would this work for you too
  19. you could try covering it with black insulating tape instead
  20. the budget webcam I bought a few years back I had to disassemble it to get to the inside board and knock out the LEDs that came on and remove the lens
  21. Afocal you use the webcam to capture what is showing in the eyepiece Prime focus you use the webcam where you've removed the webcam lens and fabricate the webcam too fit in the telescope focus tube where you would normally fit an eyepiece, in this way the telescope works like a large lens. What webcam have you got?
  22. Just a thought the honor you mention on argos says Android 14 but in the questions and answers I see that it doesn't have GPS, to those with an S50 does this matter do you think please?
  23. Sounds good, I'll do a wipe approach too. Currently rummaging for a suitable bit of plastic recycling I could use to make a washer for the stiff az.
