  1. Hey Kerry thanks for posting, I hope it is clear as this will be a very nice experience...... fingers crossed
  2. Its great to read you are enjoying your set up Jabe not that I was expecting anything else to be honest. I have been wondering lately what effect a front etalon would have on the 80mm Esprit and the Quark I dare not even look at the cost !!!!
  3. Cheers Gordon I only need the 30mm but I cant find anyone that will part with one. Thank you Chris Thank you John, I guess I best sell the Barlow Thank you Michael It is a tough choice, the 3.5mm is great for Lunar in my Esprit and selling the 2.5mm SLV paid for half of it
  4. Paul, It is not a zoom barlow as such. However, it is made up of several pieces that allow you to interchange them. Thus a variety of focal lengths can be achieved (some folk call it Lego) It is a very good Barlow indeed
  5. Paul, I have 2 scopes an 80mm SkyWatcher Esprit triplet refractor (astro & solar) and a 150mm SCT (Lunar & Planetary) The Barlow has a range between 1.2 -- 2.2 X so it is quite versatile and will allow magnifications inbetween my eyepiece focal lengths
  6. I just thought I would add my latest additions: Pentax XW 3.5 -- 20mm Leica Vario Zoom Baader VIP Barlow Quark Chromosphere
  7. XW 10mm in the post, completing the set :-)

  10. After 10 years of road riding in the UK I have switched to single speed cross country cycling, this is mainly due to the increasing amount of abuse / hatred I experienced from car drivers. They didn't seem to like being overtaken by a cycle in towns or having to wait 5 seconds before they could safely overtake on country lanes. Having a gun pulled out my cycling buddy and myself, whilst riding through the country side, was the final straw. The police never got back in contact with us despite an immediate call to them.
  11. Great video, I must admit when solar observing and the sun disappears behind a cloud I often track a plane until the sun comes out again :-)

Double congrats then :) :) I am just too lazy to use a barlow though I find it handy on hols with reduced EP selection, maybe I should look at a zoom though?

The only zooms I have had full joy with are the very expensive type £350+ !!!!

      Pig

And a zooms field stop,if you want to use it with the Quark, is important.

  16. 20mm Pentax XW definitely on the way :-)

  17. This initial expectation of seeing magazine type views through a scope is quite understandable but as it turns out is very unrealistic. At first I too was a tad underwhelmed but as time has passed I concentrated on objects that are within easy reach such as the Moon and the sun, both of which are not underwhelming and are in fact quite the opposite. Using a scope that gives wide field views of the stars is also very satisfying, as is observing using binoculars, and with time will realign initial expectations. To me this was the turning point and proceeding started to improve.

No Imad I sold that quite some time ago, a 150mm OTA I use it on a giro. I only use it as a lunar scope.

  19. Now that is a great Idea if I ever heard one Are full aperture solar filters recommended for Dobs ?
  20. That's quite a large size Brassiere you have there, a couple of T31's at least
  21. I have no doubt I will own one myself at some point.... They are quite magnificent
  22. I believe It comes complete with a 1.25" 10mm Plossl
  23. I think all these big Dobs are compensating for something
  24. I saw some pretty scary balancing acts involving bicycles, chicken baskets and broken washing machines when I was in China last year, I have no doubt this set up would be a piece of cake for them
