  2. Its a pity you have to purchase the whole diagonal
  3. I do want a click lock as it goes having used one on the SCT they are pretty useful.
  4. Nice one John... I also think ease / portability is key I can see Venus and some clouds, hopefully I will get a peak. I also want to experiment with the refractor and the spectroscopy grating.
  5. LoL .... they do grab every last photon and pull the stars in

    Thanks Shaun

  9. Enjoy the food Jules :happy7: We may be treated to some new year clear skies on Sunday night, so you never know a good session with your new scope may be on the menu too..... Happy New year to you and your family.

  10. All 4 of the big Dobs I have seen are great looking and great performers .... I am not so sure if their owners have these same attributes though
  11. Hiya Jen, It is not a scope I have come across before and until you try it out you will not really know..... You have taken the sensible route without spending a fortune before you know if stargazing is for you. Please let us all know how you get on with it
  12. <<<<<<<<<<<<< sings "There may be trouble ahead" Not the dreaded chilli !!!!!
  13. Its not the end of the world Mike, just a tad perplexing All is well that ends well.
  14. Enjoy your trip guys... watch out for those strong gusts of winds we experienced at the SWSP
  15. So what else do you need to do to the scope to finish it off ? It looked and performed as if it was finished to me in South Wales Mike... some gold plate maybe !!!
  16. The 3.5mm XW is a fantastic eyepiece Simon and you will not regret choosing this over the Delos, I am sure you will get some high numbers in terms of magnification without a problem
  17. Televue make the best eyepieces that I have looked through but this doesn't mean any of the other brands are not any good. As for plossls I have tried Celestron, Meade, Baader & Televue but they simply do not compare with the other eyepiece designs for me. As Stu said it is about personal preferences.
  18. Another name suggestion "Faulk's Speculum Grande"
  19. Beautiful scope......... and eyepiece
  20. Way to go Mike 20 inches of pure magic.................
