If you get a chance, sun is worth a peek today. It's waking from its slumber and is looking quite good :-)
-
Impressive solar activity this morning.
-
In the last 12 nights 11 have been clear. Not winding up anyone, honest :-)

That's very true, Andy! The 1st and 2nd were patchy as JB80 noted, the 3rd was cloud covered and then bang! Big Moon for the rest of the week even though the skies were clear. What makes matters worse is that I can't start viewing till after midnight, so no quick sessions before the moon rises. Hopefully, this and next week will remain clear.

Interesting set of active regions, loops, spikes, surges and a hedgerow type prominence some 211,000 km long and perhaps as much as 80,000km high on the Sun today. If you get a chance today the solstice sun is worth checking out :-)

Is it a good idea to stop down my 4" before observing the sun, or will it be okay?
-
It is so hot outside. The soles of my feet were beginning to 'burn' through my trainers as I observed the Sun!

It's so hot today. 40ºC and climbing. I deliciously melted while viewing the sun today. The tripod was impossible to carrying back indoors without my winter glooves on.
-
Jupiter and the Moon last night were delightful and oh boy, what a sun we have this morning...I'm roasting :-)
-
Jusr received the Hersche Wedge :-) But how do I check if the ND3 filter is included? When I look throuh the diagonals holes there's a blue tinted glass inside. Is that the filter?

Just a quick one to thank everyone here at SGL. I hope you all enjoy all the magic that this winter season brings x

Just back from the docs...broken toe :-)

Just in from an all nighter. Absolutely bush-wacked.
-
Long session this evening. Packed up at 6pm and have just arrived home at 2.30am Absoluetly exhausted but buzzing from a nice dark site session.
-
Lovely evening: Jupiter, GRS transit, Galaxies, Double and just sitting back and taking it all in.
-
Lovely night out tonight. Everything in the night sky just seemed so peaceful and so pretty.
-
Lovely session with Jupiter tonight. Caught both Ganymede's transit and the GRS. Judging by the boldness of the GRS this evening, I think we're in for a treat this winter.

My girlfriend isn't really one for space things, but she was suitably impressed with Hadfield's Space Oddity. She's singing along in that thick English accent only the Spanish know how to do. I'm rather impressed by her own rendition.

Nice evening. 3:30 am, time for bed....
-
Nice session tonight with Io's transit, the Moon and a few doubles there about. But tonight for some reason I just couldn't relax. Strange things are moods. I don't even know what they really are.
-
Not sure if I'll stay up all night, but it's been a cracking evening. 2am, clear skies and still in t-shirt and shorts :-)
-
On and of marathon today. Morning with Sun, early evening with Jupiter', late evening/morning with Moon and Orion. Outstanding day.

Packing Bags...back in a week or so
