fyratrapporupp
Unfortunately I can't have a obsy in my garden but I do have a pier. Still I have been unhappy with the time to setup everything up - this is how I solved it: I bought a outdoor cabinet from AliExpress and put all electronics and a computer inside. Now all I need to do is attach the tube and all wires to camera etc and I'm ready to go.Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk

laudropb
Very nice set up, but I too would be a little worried about moisture build up near to the electrics.

laser_jock99
Looks good- my only observation is that I would have put the cabinet on the north side to make using the polar scope easier?
r3i
Very neat - shame about all those streetlights in the background.
fyratrapporupp
Looks good- my only observation is that I would have put the cabinet on the north side to make using the polar scope easier?I had to compromise with that versus having to risk the ccd clashing with cabinet. With this solution I can still use the polar scope - although not very comfortable. It is very well polar aligned and I am using software for fine tuning it. fyratrapporupp
Very neat - shame about all those streetlights in the background. Thanks - yes that is certainly an issue. I'm using this setup until I have the equipment and knowledge to construct a remote observatory. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
JamesF
That does look very neat. I suspect the heat from the electronics would be enough to keep out most damp, though I might be tempted to put a paving slab on the ground under the box so vegetation can't grow up around it and trap damp there. I assume you must have snow to deal with too?As for the polar scope, you might be able to fit a camera on that. Could well make alignment easier. Though with your modded mount alt/az system hopefully you won't need to play with that very often?James

fyratrapporupp
I installed a touch screen in it today for manual focusing, polar aligning or just fixing computer issues when at the pier. And did some cabling. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Dark Horizon
That looks great... The case should be fine if it's rated IP65. If moisture does appear, just add a couple of PC case fans to the vents.

damnut
That looks amazing congrats. The only other thing I would consider is putting some artificial turf round the pillar, if you drop something with glass in (your lovely ep's) it gives you a chance of it not breaking! SteveI haven't actually used it yet - my plan is to use it this autumn when my new ccd arrives. I have great expectations of it and so far it looks good.Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
fyratrapporupp
Making a temperature controller for the cabinet with a 80 mm fan and a Arduino - I noticed that the cabinet could get quite hot inside when the sun was shining on it.Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
