Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd pop in and introduce myself. My name's Amy and I'm 25. I have been interested in Astronomy since 1997 when I pestered my parents to take me into the countryside to view the Hale-Bopp comet. I was hooked instantly and have never looked back. It's now that I am earning my own money that I really want to take it further and am looking to get my first telescope. I've started a thread in the equipment help section so if anyone can give me any hints and recommendations I would be very grateful.

Anyway I won't waffle on too much. Looking forward to "speaking" to some of you on here. Thanks for reading :)

Hey Amy from another n00b,

Just recently got a telescope for my birthday - a Sky-Watcher SK 709EQ1.

It's a brilliant beginner's telescope I've managed to check out the craters on the moon, Jupiter and its moon's (which was unbelievable)..but if you're looking for a better telescope you've definitely come to the right place for advice :)

Good luck!

Hi Amy, welcome to the forum.

Maybe get a pair of Binoculars to keep you going until you decide on a scope, they won't break the bank, and will become part of your kit when you get a scope. 10x50's are very reasonably priced and light enough to hand hold sitting in a sun-lounger.
