Getting back into astronomy after getting on for a decade with the scopes mothballed.

I did get the 12" pointing at jupiter a couple of nights ago.. first glimpse of the gap where the ring used to be.. very different!.. and nailed the easyies in about 5 mins.. M27, persius double cluster, M31, seven sisers, M81/82.. can't believe I haven't looked up properly all this time.

I've been given permission by SWMBO to buy a camera :).. still trying to decide on what the final setup will be as that will impact first purchase.. and I have to say the KAF8300 based cameras have caught my attention.. current thoughs are lodestar & SXAO & 383L+... That would probably be the most flexible setup for me, the lodestar is fast enough to do lucky imaging, but sensitive enough to do it on deep sky.

One thought I had is to try combining a lucky image and a conventional high sensitivty image, use the lucky image to work out what the bleeding is from the bright stars in the conventional image and thus tighten that up.

oops I seem to be rambling..

anyway, dark, clear, unpolluted, warm skys!

Derek
