There's a large Sunspot group showing on the current SOHO image.

Anyone with some clear skies should be able to see this one with a white light solar filter.......

I think thats when you get to be able to view the cloud base without getting wet. Sadly I still havent been able to do that since last week! Missed this spot re-growing and the Geminids.

At last a chance for a, albeit brief, view of the current sunspot group. First opportunity to try out my Sky 90/ PST mod combination on some decent disk detail. No chance to try imaging as it started (and still is) snowing!

Lovely sunny morning so decided to check out the sun and to see if the sunspot group was still visible.

Started with the PST - clear evidence of the bigger goup plus a smaller one. Very nice prominence at top of FOV.

Switched to the William Optics SD66 with thousand oaks filter. Main group top left (reversed by diagonal) quite large. Smaller group midway between centre and edge at 210 degrees (clockwise).

Good to study the sun again especially in HA and white light.

The large sunspot group is just moving off the limb of the sun now. But it did look very good. Lots of detail to be seen around the main spot.

The second group of what looks like 5 small spots also good.

Got out about 1 this afternoon with the etx - yeah!! First sunspot group I have managed to see since buying the filter. Pity they were so close to the edge, but has whetted my apetite for more ...

What do I need to view the Sun with a Sky-Watcher 150PL or are reflectors not made for this sort of thing?

Just had fantastic viewing of a group of three sunspots on the upper right (in my newt so lower left?) quadrant...tried to image but the sun passed behind the houses. 2 large spots on the top and a smaller one below and in between them. Clear as day, through a 15mm SP and still clear even on a 10mm with X2 Barl. Amazing.

I think I did image this sunspot group before it dissapeared around the limb. With the Sun being so low, I had to grab the chance between clouds, trees and the odd aircraft!
