Orion was the first Astro image I ever did 13 years ago, below you can see my journey over the past 13 years I have posted the most recent image first to hopefully hook you in then it progresses from the first image I ever took.

I've had lots of help along the way from my good friends Ray Leeson & Matt Foyle along the way 2 amazing blokes.

latest image was taken with a QHY294m and William Optics Super Apo 80 mm f/480 mm combo

older images have various Nikon cameras and QHY9m along with Celstron Nexstar 4SE & Orion Optics VX6

Thank you for popping in for a look :)

A lovely set of images. I recognise the journey. The delight at the very first image, then the ambition to improve leading to progressively more interesting (I won't say better!) images.

Mirrors my own journey to an extent, except I have never achieved the heights of your latest version!

Astonishing image!

That is a great journey Gaz! The current one is excellent. I feel I have done a similar journey since I started back in 2015. This steady progress is of course a major factor in what makes this hobby so rewarding. Still, even if I think that my first images now look quite pathetic, I seem to remember that I was quite pleased with them at the time, actually quite excited, which is probably what kept me going.

Great set of images, I love the dusty renditions that are presented these days, they are almost unrecognisable as M42!

I have all of the necessary equipment however I’m about at the point of your last image, but I’ll keep trying.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean.... I think this is why It's good to look back, as many Orion was and is one of my favourite nebulas to image, and I'm sure my latest won't be the last time I image it
